What are your early indications? I would think Boyd would at least get a camp invite next year from someone like Hamilton, especially if Cobourne retires.

I don't think Hamilton, they have Mallet back from injury plus Chevon Walker. Cobourne may still be in the mix based on his performance when he was given the chance.

Could be right. With Walker, I would assume Hamilton has no interest in paying Mallet $100K a year and would cut him lose, especially since he is an unknown after that kind of injury.

I wonder if Terry Grant might return next season as well. It would be a shame for the Ticats if he doesn't recover from that serious injury that he sustained at SkyDome last year. A healthy Grant would make that running back competition even more interesting.

    Cool

Been very busy lately; just have time for a "glancing shot"....

I really miss Cory Boyd crashing through like a turbo-charged steam-roller, but that's all been covered....

Agree with OV, would love to see a more diverse running attack for all teams in the CFL; and that's all been covered too.

Was Gerald Riggs dressed last weekend? Didn't play, anyway.

Love Kackert. Would love to see Kackert and Riggs both in the backfield, though I'm aware that we'd have to sit others, like receivers. Still want an extra roster spot or two added to the roster for next season ... for this very reason.

Perhaps Kackert and Riggs will be our secret weapon plan for Montreal. Hope I didn't just give away the secret. Please Moderators, and/or any Argos Brass/Management reading this, delete this paragraph, if that is indeed the case. Loose lips sink ships.

    Cheers !

    Cool

Yes, the Argos Brass would have to PM the Mods to delete that paragraph.

Enough bloody conspiracy theories around here; wouldn't want to suggest another.

I'll be a jerk and bump this because it is the 4th anniversary of the occurrence.

Boy, were our fears ever unfounded with Kackert replacing Boyd.

yes. From that day forward anyone who questioned Barker or Milo on team matters have been neutered.

Never understood why we got rid of Boyd. He was better than people like Messam and Harris who managed to stick around the league for years.

Boyd was better than Kackert IMO. By a fair margin.

Well he didn't last long in Edmonton, and nobody else had any interest in him after that.

I wanted to keep Boyd too, but the problem was he was a poor blocker and supposedly not very good receiving out of the backfield (which I disagree with). It seems with the success of the Als under Trestman, other teams started going with the "all around" scatback types. Hence why Hugh Charles was even starting over Boyd and Messam in Edmonton.

It has also been suggested that things were not as rosy behind the scenes with him.

Screw it though, I'll wear my Cory Boyd jersey to the corn roast today

Boyd had good hands, but was slow in making his first move after catching the ball. If you hit him on the move he was dangerous, but from a stand still position, not as good as most backs.

Cornish and Messam are the same when it comes to receiving IMO, and they've had some pretty solid careers. Boyd's issue IMO is that he struggled with blocks.

It wasn't just that he was a poor blocker. He became unwilling to stick his nose in there against pass rushers. There were some matador plays right before he was cut that showed why they cut him.

I was a big Cory Boyd fan. IMO, he ended his career with his performance with the Esks against us in the EDSF that year. If he had had a good game, I believe he would have been given another shot by someone the following year, but I remember him having a very poor game.
