So how much money did Larry and Bell make? I see this as more of an added partner, rather than a acquisition. But I guess technically Bell and Larry sell the club to Larry, Bell and Rogers
Great news, but does this mean Sportsnet actually has to report positive news on the Argos now?
yes, net result just selling part of the team to rogers.
Probably makes logistics, ticketing, etc easier.
FYI: rogers is looking at selling its sports assets - Jays and MLSE stake. Bell probably has rights to buy rogers share, so 3 years from now its will be just LT & Bell owning MLSE. Rogers needs cash badly to upgrade its network to make its comparable to huge $$$ Bell/Telus spent on their networks.
Great news for the Argos and the CFL in general.
This should have been done years ago.
So does this mean their sub lease at BMO is out the window and they're equal footing with TFC in this regard?
I've been wondering this as well. I think TFC would still be the "primary" tenant at BMO due to the amount of games they play, but I think we'll see a lot more permanent Argos signage in and out of BMO. I also wonder if the lease with the City has to be re-done ?
No more rental fee to MLSE, so there's some savings there.
That's a relief... I was getting worried that the rest of the CFL didn't hate us enough...

TFC heads are blowing up as we speak : )
And MLSE just decides to pay that fee to the city out of its own pocket because why?
Having MLSE as the governor of the facility and the club is great. It protects us against a landlord who won't care about giving us a good deal monetarily or one that suits the club. It doesn't mean that we don't have a landlord. It just means that our landlord is family.

How I understand it, the landlord in an Argos perspective is now the city. MLSE being the tenant, the Argos are now a brand under the MLSE umbrella. Same as TFC.
I'm hoping the Argos can now get some more permanent signage in the stadium so it could be both teams' home. Maybe some new Grey Cup banners (since we're adding one) that can always stay up.
