"Under its current ownership, a transformed Argonauts football club enhanced its presence and fan base in Canada’s largest sports market and ultimately marched to the CFL championship," MLSE president and CEO Michael Friisdahl said in a statement. "We look forward to building on the Argos’ strong momentum as we welcome the team to the leading provider of sports and entertainment experiences in Canada."Have to think a full embracing of #Argos by the entirety of MLSE will mean some game broadcasts on Sportsnet down the road. #CFL

Big time story for the CFL. For a number of reasons. Whispers were around about this, but only whispers. Now, if the CFL goes to 10 teams quickly, you could see sharing of games between TSN and Sportsnet as an example https://t.co/tu1JtcKuBE

Thumps Up!Joining MLSE brings numerous advantages to the Argonauts, including financial scale and promotional, ticketing and other operational synergies. The Argos play at BMO Field at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, which is operated by MLSE and also serves as home to another MLSE team, Toronto FC of Major League Soccer (MLS).
current CEO at Rogers is former head at Telus, who had a good relationship with the CFL. Might have had something to do with it.
I would expect the Argos practise facility situation will be corrected quickly. Envision a facility that will lure free agents....more merchandise options....nothing but good can from from this for both the Argos and the league.
Fay and Cox started off the 5 pm hour on Prime time discussing the Argos sale. Jeff Blair came on a little after 6pm and talked some Blue Jays, then went to his typical Argo talk. Brain Cooper was on around 6:15 talking about the sale, and how he felt it'll take about 24 months for us to see some major changes with the Argos and MLSE.
When's the last time the Argos were talked about 3 separate times on Primetime Sports ?

Great news. Good thing they didn't lose the GC game.
Ultimate answer to that thread!
This is quite remarkable. The company that went out of their way to hurt and talk negatively about the Argos is now part owner. It's funny that Sportsnet's own employees are practically admitting this and that they are changing their tune. We all knew it all came from the top, but now have absolute proof. Watch McCowan eventually change his tune too, LOL
I can now see the Argos gradually returning to relevancy. Enough to to keep us satisfied anyway. Positive future for Canadian Football at all levels.

Damien Cox is a jackass. He specifically says don't expect there to be any Argo/CFL talk on this show (PTS) just because we own them. That's not how it works. We have been talking more soccer because there is a legitimate interest level.
What the hell. Argos have interest and viewership and that was amplified during the last 2 months of the season. But in his selective mind interest in the Argos doesn't count.
I hope his bosses tell him. You know what Damien the Argos are GC champs, 20,000 go to BMO Field to watch them and they draw 500,000 viewers on TV. We want you to have meaningful discussion about the goings on of this team on this show. If you don't want to do that don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
GO ARGOS!!!
Don't expect Argos talk, as he talking Argos! He then remarks how a CFL game could be on Sportsnet someday. So owning a Sports and Intellectual Property won't lead to a particular media outlet coverage, but owning them might lead to another media outlet! Talking in circles. Rogers own employees are trying to comprehend today's news, LOL.
590 used to be a great place for Argonauts news. It will gradually improve, that's a guarantee.

Many us easily debunked that 10M figure. Of course that was pre Rogers-owned-Argos talk, but now a more realistic figure gets mentioned. Funny how that works. Interesting that everyone is fine with TFC's yearly 9M+ loss or the Jays, but get hung up on the Argos losing much less.
I am not sure what to make of this, maybe no one knows right now other than the involved conglomerate? Conspiracy, who knows?
Currently other than the Argo games possibly being shown at Maple Leaf Square, the jury is out on this move.
Great News!
Argos have gone from an ownership group with Deep Pockets - to one with DEEP POCKETS!
Just think of all the extra attention our Argos we will now be getting on radio & TV.
And this could mean we might be looking at a season of record breaking attendance...
Boy - I hope the stadium crowd doesn't get too loud.... Hahaha
