Yea I saw this in the morning and just face palmed.
No, they shouldn't.
Yup. Typical knee jerk reaction line of thinking. Lose a 16 year future hall of famer to injury and trying and trade for one that has never played in the regular season before?
Yeah....no. I think our depth will be OK .
I’m excited to see what Franklin can do. He’s looked good so far and with a full week of prep, I’m confident he will do well against his former team.
No.
Rally behind Franklin and play good football!
As Dick Vermeil would say.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
You don't think ownership will try pushing such trade?
I like Franklin and want to see what he's got. To put it mildly I don't care for Bethel Thompson - the last thing this team needs is a lead foot QB behind our offensive line. And, I don;t see the Ticats trading Manziel at this point, so let's be honest this is wishful thinking by media types.
I will say one thing though; I'd love to see what impact Trestman could have on Manziel. I'm not just talking x's and o's either; Trestman is the leader of good men IMO.
I heard them talking about this on Overdrive yesterday. I'm not sure what was more surprising, the Manziel trade suggestion or the fact that they were actually talking about the Argonauts on TSN1050.
NO!!!
They traded for Franklin for this very reason. They believe he has the tools to be the next starter.
Also remember Trestman has now coached both Cavillo and Ray. Franklin appears to follow their mold as well. Well spoken, humble, and team orientated.
He's also good for ownership to promote as the face of the franchise in the future. Similar to Reilly and Mitchell. A better long term plan.
Obviously he now has to show he can do it. I believe he can!
Another important point is June Jones likes two good QB's on his rosters. Always has.
Much ado about nothing here imo.
The Argos planned for succession of Ricky Ray. Keep in mind that they did not know if he was going to return this season until after they traded for and signed James Franklin.
Ricky is now injured, moving the succession plan forward.
Scrapping that plan at this point for an untried QB who is essentially only auditioning for the NFL seems counter-productive.
Besides, this is pure scenario playing by a member of the media, largely for discussion/entertainment purposes.
The Ticats would never trade Manziel to an East team at this point in the season, Als or the Argos. They might consider a west team like Saskatchewan with Collaros out.
No, looking forward to when we can get through a week without silly articles and hot takes on the ticats backup qb.
I'd trade Ronnie Yell and T.J. Heath for him.
A couple of bad games does not change a master-plan. Believe in the plan; and besides, if he goes anywhere, it sure as heck won't be Toronto.
Hustle hit and never quit
No. I believe we already have a good QB in Franklin.
I watched a guy who I was prepared to see fail look like he was a vet shaking the rust off. Damn right I'd try to get him. With the American media coverage, the Cox and Madanis of the world would eat it up.
