Pfeffer (like all kickers) needs to make "easy" kicks. But I am not seeing a couple of missed kicks as having really hurt us in a game lost by 34 points.

Lots of doom and gloom on this thread. For good reason I guess...football is a funny game, go from total elation to total disaster with only 4 games in between. I think Franklin will shine in his first game and Wilder will get his act together (his best game last year was against Edmonton at home). I say we take it by 3 on a last minute FG. Let's go
Call it what you want but they were out of the game from the opening kickoff.
Thoroughly dominated on both lines of scrimmage, anemic O and a D featuring huge running lanes, wide open Calgary receivers and half hearted arm tackles were to me most troubling considering the biggest improvement in 2017 was the Argos D.

I believe that is correct. I know we missed one because of bad snap or bad hold (I think it was a bad snap), think that was right after the Yell fumble recovery when the game was still in reach. Pfeffer missed a makeable FG later but by that point the die was cast.

According to Frank Z, there is a good chance Argos will go with 3 Canadian receivers, with Noel playing boundary WR. Also, Burks will play at HB along with Wilder. If those changes do occur, it would probably mean Jackson will play P/K returner only.
If it happens as Frank is suggesting, I'm sure we are all hoping Noel has a good game.
I love this, they're shaking things up a bit, Noel is a big upgrade over Tyms IMO and I can't wait to see what he can do. But it sure looks like they're hoping to pile up some rushing yards against one of the weaker run defences in the league. I've always thought that in today's CFL you need to have two feature backs you can rotate in and out to keep the wear-and-tear down. They take a real beating with all that pass blocking so it's a good idea to keep them fresh. I bet the line's excited about ripping some holes for these guys, I wonder if they will throw in a couple of designed runs for Franklin too.
I can’t help but share the “doom and gloom” of some posters on here, that whooping last game was bad!
That said, let’s think of the good things going for tomorrow:
- Franklin’s mobility will relieve some pressure on this beleaguered O Line
- Hopefully this in turn opens up the running game a bit – again this will further relieve the pressure on the O Line
- Not sure how but I’ve gotta believe our D Line gets more pressure in the backfield this week, this should help out the secondary (who needed that help 2 weeks ago) – hopefully Striker helps here!
- Pfeffer should have a better game
- Weather will be great out! Although it never hurts to be a little humid and hot for when the western teams come down here, it’ll be a great day for football (and some pre-game beverages of course J
In other news, where is the depth chart??
I too think that the 2 import backs is the way to go here. Most CFL teams go this way now, and some of them with 3.
It will also motivate Wilder if Burks can pop a couple of runs off. I am calling for a close one, and an Argo victory by a FG.
I expect we'll see a charged football club this week, and with Franklin's ability to improvise, an opposition Defense that will have to play back on their heels a bit.
Once we see confidence rise, then some of the flash will return. Noel deserves a shot.
God bless Ricky, but this team needs to execute for him to be successful. That doesn't necessarily have to be the case with a QB who can throw on the run, or even just run.
I think Trestman made the error of not letting the vets play a pre-season game and they clearly were out of synch, and have paid the price. Ricky and Trestman run an execution, timing offense.
Wilder should be feeling the need to succeed. I think he'll break a couple of big ones.
Hustle hit and never quit
One other thing. Haven't seen the depth chart, but I'd expect Rodney Smith or White to be available as a DI with this look.

Three Canadian receivers.

Apparently t-shirts will also be at the gate? So no need to go to the shipyard?
Argos to start 3 Canadian receivers?

I hope Noel brings the hustle he brings to the teams
