So he's in as the new QB coach, and it appears the domino that needed to fall for that to happen is Wendell Avery losing his job as receivers coach.

Argos haven't formally announced Avery's departure, but Chamblin alluded to it in his scrum with Scianitti.

Surprised Ricky Ray wasn't brought in right from the get-go. You look at the Coaching Staff and they have 2 D-Line Coaches for whatever reason.

I think Ray is ultimately destined for Edmonton.

Ricky has made it clear he didn't want any part of coaching this year. He'll likely end up with Maas but he may not rush into it.

Chamblin said he needed two d-line coaches because the requirements of tackles and ends are so different.

Look for Wendell Avery to join Marc Trestman in Tampa next year. They go back all the way to University of Minnesota. According to Marc’s book “Perseverance” Marc was the #2 QB behind Wendell. Mike Archer is also part of Marc’s staff for 2020..

First I ever heard of it. I suppose you could also say that they also need two D-Back Coaches too as the same could be said for Corners and Halfs. Or have a WIL Coach and a SAM Coach? Why not two O-Line Coaches? One for the Tackles and one for the Guards. Not trying to be a smart ass here, just trying to point out that this is a QB league and the coaching salary cap makes good logical placement tantamount. If you want to make sense and get off to a good start, you need sound decisions, and the little things do add up.

I didn't know Trestman had a book. I'll have to give it a read!
    Thanks for the heads up...

No argument with the latter point. I think CC may have also felt that the two line assistants could split responsibility for run defence and pass defence among the linemen. Who knows how duties are divvied. I've felt for years that there are too many coaches. I'd be in favour of going back to smaller staffs, like maybe eight assistants in total (3 coordinators, 2 other coaches for both O and D and 1 other asst ST coach).

I never looked that close at the assistant coaches and that Chamblin has two coaches for the D Line. Maybe the D Line is over coached and was what ticked Lemon off.
I know the current O Line coach has a long history of coaching but maybe it's time to have a younger former Offensive Lineman coaching them. The game has changed since the 1970's. lol
Somebody has to take the fall for this year, and if isn't Jim and Cory it will have to be those assistants. They're the reason.
