Thanks for the clarification on Adeboboye and Mital. Pinball came and spoke to us right after speaking to you. I believe we were two rows above and just to your left. As always Pinball was gracious and informative. He mentioned the team has been speaking to QBs on their negotiation list but are waiting to see what is happening to those players re the NFL. We noticed Jim Barker was at the other end of the stands. Did anyone manage to speak with Jim? He is always ready with some frank evaluations.

Thank you Mike. It is always difficult to stay on top of the roster and players' numbers. We were wondering what number Mauger was wearing and where he was playing. Great to have you providing us fans with updates--much appreciated.

On defense a couple of DBs showed flashes of good play. If the numbers are correct, 14 Steele, 19 Vincent and 16 Waters all showed well. Though not strictly a rookie, I thought 37 Franklin, looked solid at CB On offense 19 Malone, made some very good receptions. All three rookie RBs (37 Bowser, 23 Laborn and 43 Torry) looked very capable.

Please accept that the above is highly subjective and I might well have missed others that played well. I recall being impressed with a player in an exhibition game, only for the coaches to release the player the next day---so take my observations with a grain of salt!

Obviously we need to see how the new DCs use their personnel, but McManis was in the middle a lot last year, to my untrained eye.

Seems to me, a lot of CFL Ds sometimes go with a look where the 2 LBs (MLB & W-OLB) are lined-up in the middle of the D, sort of split equally apart, and the S-OLB is gone - in coverage of maybe blitzing.

I agree this seems to be increasingly common. 4-2-6 formation.

I noticed that Edmonton released QB Kaleb Eleby, who I liked while at Western Michigan. Given that the Elks had 8 QB's to start camp, how is that enough time to properly evaluate them all. Hopefully the Argos give him a shot here since he will certainly get more reps and an opportunity than he did in Edmonton.

It makes no ssense to bring more than 4 QB’s to any camp these days. Camp is really short and there just are not enough reps to go around.

Jonestown had 8 and is now down to 6.

IF a team has an established starter and some either experienced back-ups or a nice young prospect or two, sure maybe 4 is plenty.

The Argos current QB situation IMO screams lots of competition; I would have zero problem with them looking at 6 or more QB prospects in serious TC competition - at the most important position in the game. 15 receiver prospects or so is Ok though ? Sorry, I don't buy that lack of reps excuse - a smart QB talent evaluator can identify a good QB prospect in short time, IMO.

The RedBlacks are headed to main TC with 5 QBs - vet Masoli, plus 2 young prospects (Brown & Crum) who already flashed good CFL QB skills;, and 2 other young guns.

The Argos current TC QB situation - with the unknown Kelly future situation - is a laughable farce IMO, and a potential for disaster.

We've been through this before Any more than 4 is too many. Not enough reps to go around in a short camp, and that eliminates the proper type of competition you need.

Well, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree there; unless you are some sort of authority on CFL QBing and TC competition there.

No, I just go to practice and see there are barely enough reps for 3 QB's. Again, camp is short, there are only 2 pre season games. There is just not enough time or reps to evaluate the amount of QB's you seem to think there should be. We no longer have 6 week camps with 4-6 pre season games. You have 20 days from the first day of camp until final cuts have to be made (June 1).

So, Jonestown with 6 QBs and Ottawa with 5 are fools making big mistakes ?

The Stamps have starter Maier; a 2nd stringer from last season; vet FA Shiltz and 3 other young guns - all with Div I experience - too much but the Argos are A-Ok ?

but it's not "competition" as you say. The younger guys might stick around during the season to run scout team, but I can guarantee you, they are not getting many reps during camp.

The Argos front four should be dominant this season, also looks like Rasheed Bailey could be a very good pick up as well.

Can someone clarify for me how many quarterbacks the Argos can have on their roster by the June 1st cut-off point? And they don't have to count Kelly in that number during his suspension period, is that correct?
