It's us vs the rest of the country
I've heard that the temp seats for Grey Cup are in and we can expect 45,000. The talk was that every game would be sold out and now we're talking about if we'll get 17,000. It will take time and the schedule this year isn't great. At least even a smallish crowd won't look tiny in BMO.
Okay fair enough but I was called a "jackass" and other names because I suggested the capacity was 25k for the Argos ? Yet as you say, it's announced between 25k to 27k, so it could be 25k?
I was at the home opener and it was close to capacity and the announced attendance was over 24k, if the capacity was 27k then that would mean over 3k empty seats, but it was 95% full = 25k
Can't make the game, so stone me if the turn out is low..
We all should be pretty happy if attendance is North of 20k. I would only be worried if any less than 17 or 18 show up.
This team seems no more popular than the mid 2000's or C&S era. Home openers had around 26k attend (maybe not buy tickets) and the rest of the season stay above 20k with some peak games in the fall drawing close to 30k. I feel the vibe around the team becoming as it was then, so I don't see why 20k can't be achieved. Biggest bonus as mentioned before, 20k in BMO feels full and fun. 24k for the opener in Rogers Centre would feel like a failure. I predict 19 500.

yup i'm not too worried about numbers - if it's anything like it was on the 23rd it'll be a fun day and game. that stadium was rocking on the 23rd although only for a limited time due to onfield performance.
I'm just being goofy. I'm tired of the attendance talk. We weren't supposed to have that this year.
wondering if all the traffic problems this week will impact the attendance, since Lakeshore is to be closed and several lots closed due to the upcoming Indy races. Everyone needs to make sure you plan enough time to get there.
One lane of the Lakeshore is already closed to prepare for the Indy. Problem with the CNE is that there's always crap going on. Soon it'll be the Ex. I remember Carribana used to have their parade along the Lakeshore. Not sure where that is now. I would never drive down.
I guess the point is attendance is not really a factor anymore. 20,000 at BMO will look like pretty packed, the atmosphere should be fantastic!(at Skydome, not so much). A 26,500 sellout would even be better with the Argo owner's perhaps earning a $2M profit instead of $1M, but that's not crucial for the team's survival or being perceived as successful. Football fans across Canada should be thrilled the Argos finally have their own stadium with local blue-chip ownership who look to be in for the long haul. The important thing is for Argo fans to enjoy the game, it should be great!
yeah - i think as a fan base we're so used to being in survival mode we worry about things like attendance too much.
let's enjoy - as someone said it's a great time to be an arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgooooooooos fan.
happy gameday!
Take note of the map of parking lots and walking routes, the layout is way different tonight. (If anybody in the band is reading this, we're meeting at parking lot 4, OK?)
