Karma is something Rogers obviously doesn't believe in but it works in mysterious ways. What a bunch of flat out corporate bullies. They don't see the big picture at all. Crap will hit their fan big time one day and then we'll all get one huge last laugh.
It's actually quite sad the level of spite that some people at Rogers must have for the CFL/Argos, really. Has a major corporation in its "home city" ever gone so far out of its way to undermine a home team/league like this, ever, anywhere, in history? And given the CFL's/Argos unique circumstances of being the only domestic league with the oldest team in North America, you would think that they would have one ounce of self-respect here, but no. Some corporate citizenship, eh Rogers? Of course, these are the guys that blew at least $50 million promoting a team from another city, and erected a statute to the guy who "bought the team." Wow. I cancelled all my Rogers stuff a few years ago with the Bills fiasco, and have not gone to a Jays game in two years, and won't be going anytime soon. I had probably been to something like 300 Jays games in my life, but likely will only go on the rarest of occasions from now on.
Two other things on this: First, it looks like Braley was not the problem, and that it has been Rogers' intransigence all along in getting this deal done. Second, and related, is Arash M. a baldfaced liar, or a sad corporate shill, or both? What a pathetic lickspittle!
Granted, Braley has been running a skeleton crew, which has not helped matters-- but perhaps this would not have been so damaging if the sale to MLSE was intended to go through some time ago, and has been held up by Rogers. Clearly, Rogers are a problem for thesale, though the team has its own problems too (though Rogers brutal approach to dates at the RC obviously did not help). There is no question that Rogers has gone out of its way to hurt the Argos, even at the cost of losing money in its own building from concessions.
Rogers finally shows its true colours..."they want fair market value" for Argo's rent at BMO, and apparently this is the biggest stumbling block??? WTF, BUT I THOUGHT THE aRGOS GOT FREE RENT. LOL, WHERE ARE ALL THESE GUYS FROM ROGERS WHO OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS WOULD PRINT THAT THE ARGOS RECIEVED FREE RENT, WHEN IN FACT THE ARGOS PAY THE HIGHEST RENT IN THE CFL
We should all boycott anything Rogers, except this year at the dome.
Did anyone happen to read last week's G&M article reporting Rogers' Q1 profits down by 17% compared to last year? You can read the article here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/repor...ticle24036854/.
Obviously, $255 million's not a bad Q1 result, but clearly the combined effect of people cutting their subscriptions and lacklustre broadcast revenue from NHL games have affected the bottom line. And one can only hope for more of the same...
Karma's a b*tch, eh 1argoholic?
Karma is one thing I do believe in. I know all of the stupid stuff I did in the past has all come back to bite me. haha.
Once the dust settles and we're sitting at BMO watching the Argonauts the first chant we must yell is, "ROGERS SUCKS"
Hell we could yell that at the last game in the dome.
"ARGOS ARE AT BMO" banner would be nice lol
This is Double Blue Patch Territory now, DORKS!!! I better get the spray paint out.
Here is a view from Vancouver about Rogers' role in the Argos sale: http://www.theprovince.com/touch/story.html?id=11022219
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
Say what you want about Rogers but calling Ted Rogers just an executive is a bit of an under sell. He started one of the most successful Canadian companies ever.
