The other HB got (Bryan) got injured too? That's some bad luck right there. Bluto said he felt that the penalty on Mitchell was BS. If that goes uncalled the Argos have an extremely successful evening against Calvillo. The downfield coverage wasn't even that bad on the rest of the drive I don't think, but Calvillo's checkdown options were pretty much wide open with plenty of space to run. The Argo defender also slipped on the turf on Bruce's TD. The Argos did a whole lot of slipping on the turf yesterday, but it didn't seem to affect Montreal as such.

The Varsity experience wasn't bad. The stadium doesn't have many amenities, but I wasn't expecting a whole lot from it in that regard for the pre-season game. I'm sorry but I have to say it that it doesn't look particularly good that the Argos couldn't sell out this game or that there were empty seats. I know it's pre-season but still... I thought we were going to end up with no PA announcer, but Landry finally started and did a great job.

Does anyone know if Reinders is injured? I expected to see him in action but don't think he dressed for the game, which would surprise me if he's healthy.

Yes it looked like #27 Bryan was injured and did not return to the game.

As for the stadium, I was pleasantly surprised that the bench seating had backs. What luxury compared to IWS and the old upper south side stands in Ottawa!

    For the Mtl fans (294life)

294life - A guy sitting in front of me was wearing a retro Dalla Riva jersey in a sea of double blue.

Deslauriers dropped one that hit him right in the hands. Granted he did make at least one catch later in the game but I'm amazed that Mtl can't acquire or develop a better Cdn receiver. Argo fans will hope the Als keep him around.

#83 Campbell looked very good. Made a couple of great receptions in the 2nd half. Arland Bruce also had a good game with a nice TD catch.

Emry should have had an INT in first half - ball hit him in the numbers.

Whyte's punting is mediocre, especially compared to Waters' booming punts. The backup kicker #43 (can't recall his name) looks to have a stronger leg than Whyte.

Calvillo played much longer than I expected, probably because his first two or three series were quick two and outs. He appeared to be limping a bit after getting sacked by Mitchell. But he continued playing and finished strong.

Porter didn't really impress too much. Neiswander & Marsh fared better but they played against the bottom end of the Argos' depth chart.

#37 Sutton looks promising at RB. #22 Lumbala had a few carries for short gains.

Didn't notice any serious injuries for you guys.

Were you sitting towards the south endzone? If so, the guy in the Dalla Riva jersey may have been my dad.

Yes around the 5 - 10 yd line about two thirds of the way up the stands.

Ya probably him, he grew up in Montreal cheering for the Alouettes in the 70's and then made the trip down the 401 like many other Anglos did when the PQ took power. He cheers for Montreal if they are in town, but cheers for the Argos against any other opponent. There were a few other Als fans sprinkled around the stadium.

The other kicker for the Als played for Hamilton last week in Montreal. After the Ticats cut him, the Als scooped him up.

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned that the great Rob Ford was front and centre at the game last night.

I listened to the game in its entirety on TSN radio. Mike Hogan interviewed both Ford brothers during the game...both are avid CFL fans who state they wan the Argos to succeed & have their own football stadium...(Rob did not sound too pleased how BMO went down if I recall)...Chris Rudge was also interviewed, he sounds like a hard working, intelligent indivdual who will be a part of the resurgance of the Toronto Argonauts.

Why did the highlights not show the 1 handed TD catch by Reggie Williams????

Because he said all of the right things about the Argos and their stadium issue last night. Didn't Arland Bruce also give him a ball?

I kept my eye on Lee a few times. He's quick and brings pressure but never gets there in time for a sack but at least he disrupts the pocket. On one play (near the Als one yard line on the endzone where the players entered the field) looked like Lee was spying and then blitzed and hit Porter right after he released the ball.

Did Laing end up getting a few sacks? The only time I remember his name being heard was when he took the spearing penalty. I remarked that the coaches wouldn't be too pleased about that.

I have looked back at the game thread for the game you speak and do not see a post by Mr. Woods that is critical of Collaros. If you are going to call out a member on something he said in November you at least have to provide some sort of link to the post that you say that he said those things.

Hey Argofan87 I have a button your dad would love. I found an old school Peter Dalla Riva button in an antique store near Gastown in Vancouver 11 years ago when we first moved here. It was one of the classic picture ones. I used to wear it on my Argoholic coveralls to Grey Cup as I like to have one button supporting everyteam and past teams. Anyhow at the last Grey Cup in Regina Finn (not sure what he calls himself when he checks in here the odd time, General Of The Argoholics) were heading back to our hotel very late but decided to hit a different hotel lounge for one last drink. Who was sitting at a table with some other old CFL players but Dalla Riva. I walked over and pointed to my button and asked if he knew this guy. The whole table laughed and he had us sit down with him and he bought us a drink and we chatted. The button is now on my cork board with all of my CFL pins as he signed it for me.

Pretty cool. He was my dad's favorite player on those 70's Alouette teams and he had his jersey back in that time, but he lost it when he was at Queen's. I bought the jersey for him when I was at an Argo-Als game a few years back. Unfortunately, one of the primary reasons that the original Alouettes folded in 1987 was the departure of many Anglophones like my father. I've been told that the team wasn't overly popular amongst the Francophone population of Montreal.
