    Unhappy Free agency

    Can anyone please explain to me how ay free agent will come to Toronto without a GM or head coach? Argos could save 125,000 grand or so by cutting Rickey Foley. The need to get one of Ernest Jackson, Greg Ellingson or Bryan Burnham.

    Is there some rule that you need a coach and GM a week in advance of free agency? If not, I'd say worry about this around next Monday if there are still no GM and coach at that time.

    Cutting Van Zeyl would save us even more money. TBH, this situation is bad when you think about it, not only do we not have a Head Coach or GM, but Zimmerman will be picking up players who the new Coach and GM may not even want.

    Copeland is taking his time so that he gets it right. Seriously though, it is a bad situation. Zimmerman's work may go all for not if his players don't fit the systems of our eventually to be named GM and Coaching staff.

    Man, can we worry about this if it actually happens? There is still a full week before anyone can sign with any team other than their own. And GMs sign guys all the time who don't work out for one reason or another. The likelihood that guys Zimmerman has signed won't "fit the systems" seems pretty low. I haven't seen any signing yet that seems idiosyncratic. We're not exactly loading up on ball-carrying fullbacks.

    Yeah - maybe not worry too much - but the GM and HC have to be on the same page/

    I like some of those new WR signings so far - addressing a big area of need.

    The length of time it took for Copeland to complete his "review" has some people on edge and I cannot fault them for that.

    What choice does Zimmerman or the Argos have though? It's a bit of a no-win scenario if you ask me.

    I guess I assumed that Free Agency was important and that a lot of time and effort from the GM/HC was put into evaluating Free Agent talent. If that is not the case, then hiring a GM the night before FA isn't a problem.

    Also, the new GM will have to put in the time and effort into hire a HC at the same time. Once the HC is hired, then 2016 problems have to be identified first before the solutions are addressed through FA and the Draft.

    I guess I see a real mess here that gets worse as time passes.

    I can only presume that the Argos are hiring either a GM/HC or hiring a GM and HC team. That would explain the lateness of the process. No other explanation as far as I can see.

    Isn't it possible that they haven't made the announcement because they are still dotting the i's on the contract, but that the new GM is already calling the shots from behind the scenes?

    One other explanation could be that Copeland's guy is part of the Falcons or Patriots organization...seems unlikely. Seems more likely that Copeland is incompetent.

    I suspect that this may be happening.

    Last year during the poorly attended second home game and they announced the Grey Cup ticket packages. That was the TSN turning point on this franchise when a sinking feeling began forming in my stomach.

    A second game in 5 days, on a long weekend, after the Ti-Cats opener with whatever small amount of interest and Hamilton fan sales which that brings - ought to be a spectacularly small crowd in attendance on June 30th, following that up with a Monday night home game ought to really crank up the buzz for this team (yeesh).....I've already pre-booked my worrying to February....I can't renew ST for this silliness.....let me know when we decide on a HC, GM, QB, or anything else that might be important in creating a successful football franchise....is Copeland still looking? thank-goodness it's all under control then....phew, and to think I was almost worried.....

    My guess too, there is probably some good reason why they havent made an announcement of new hires and that the business is running already with guidance from the new guys. At least that is my hope. Lots of receivers coming into camp but I will keep beating on my drum for a new exciting RB to be signed to open up our passing game.

    Right now the depth chart has more holes than any other CFL Team.

    Our starting Left Tackle, one of the the most important positions on the team would go to Brandon Washington or Jamal Campbell.

    Our starting receiver set (on paper) is;

    Jeff Fuller - DiVier Posey - Devon Wylie - Brian Jones - Joe Morgan

    Questions linger at QB.

    Our starting RB is not durable and has never proven himself in a starting role. There is no insurance there at this time.

    The Front 4 is;

    Foley - Bishop - Waud - Lemon

    The Linebackers;

    Venable - McFadden - Gordon

    The DB's;

    Alfred - Sears - Gabriel - Mitchell - Berry (Rankin)

    This is easily the worst alignment in the league. There is still time, and there is still recruitment and FA signings; however, there are still many question marks and even if those are optimal signings, on paper this roster will challenge to be the worst out of the gate.

    Still no coach, and no still no GM. Still no direction or plan. How many seasons tickets will be sold this year?
