The tailgate did for us. Only had two last year where it was just our regular crew. Every other one had at least 2 extra people coming to game that wouldn’t ordinarily come. And quite frankly last game’s tailgate was best part of day. Hopefully it continues because it’s looking like it will be best part of season!

watched Riders last night but before that it was TFC on TSN, so i caught a few minutes of that.

what I noticed is TFC on TSN was loud. The Riders game on TSN was quite. I have to say that has to be bullshit! NFL was caught embellishing crowd noise and it makes a difference on TV. Why suppress the CFL?

Also why do we have to have MLS advertising on the TSN/CFL web site. They DON'T do it the other way around. I don't want to see this

I don't think TSN needs to boost the sound at a TFC game. 12,000 at an Argo game there is loud, so a full house with the TFC Supporters sections drums, chanting and singing...I'm sure it's plenty loud!

I've been to both New Mosaic and BMO (for a TFC Game) - zero chance BMO is louder.

On a side note: I'm absolutely flabbergasted that some actually think moving back to the Dome is a good idea.

You may mean me, due to my hypothetical offerings in another thread. Again, I prefer BMO - it is vastly superior to the Dome for football. My question is, where did the fans go in the switch from Dome to BMO? This team averaged bigger crowds there, and still gets good tv numbers, so the fans are out there. Why do those existing fans, people who've supported the team for years (not new fans or the young 18 to 34s MLSE is trying to attract), not come to BMO when the numbers tell us they did go (at least a few more) to the Dome? Now, it seems, they prefer to stay home, and watch from there. I just don't get it...Why?

When the team moved to BMO, they started announcing scanned attendance as opposed to sold and distributed. Plus they've cut allot of comps in the past few years.

Makes it hard to compare it to the Rogers Centre days.

bmo was never an 'event' destination as was skydome
plus bmw for football has 17 yd endzones and a different surface in one end zone - very bush league
now that rogers has a stake in the argos maybe the jays could play nice sharing the dome with them
play pre season a bmo and make ALL pre season tix FREE !
increase fan base - and fire 1/2 'the marketers'

SkyDome was an event destination in 1989. Never again after that. and for all the reasons I've articulated in another thread, it was a terrible venue for football.

Let’s put this “move back to skydome” thought to bed, its not happening and it’s a terrible idea. Regardless of the crowd size, we actually generate noise at bmo field. This never happened outside of playoff games in my skydome memories from 1998 – 2015.

I also recall reading something from Copeland that the argos are generating more revenue at BMO back in 2016. But I am unsure of the specifics and if that still is true.

I think a lot of people liked the Skydome. Attendance is way down even from the Dome. The optics of the Argos moving to BMO were never good, despite the media's effort to cover-up the the fact that TFC played there for ten years prior.

And now the turf issue to boot.

Godfather raises an interesting point. We have ST's in section 223 and when I asked my rep about buying occasional extra tickets for the family, I was told the whole section is sold out to STH's. However at the last game, nearly the entire row behind us was empty. So are tickets sold but some folks just aren't turning up?

Lots of no shows this season apparently. I was told that last game actually had around 16k sold and distributed, yet not even 11k showed up. I was also told that last year there was an average of 2,000 no shows.

I was told similar things last year. Early season games with 11K had over 15K sold and distributed. So if 16K we're sold last game it's not as bad considering the ST base is only 6K.

No shows are pretty common but 5K missing does seem like allot.

TFC has lots of no shows too - average over 20% no shows, but no one bats an eye because of the announced numbers and the ends are always full. I still remember when they first built the East upper deck; on average there was maybe 40 people up there, but the perception was TFC sold out.

It depends on a variety of factors i.e time of year, weather, playoffs etc. But since they started fielding 3 designated players, that upper east stand has gotten good use.

    Corrected for accuracy.

Other than a small majority that complain about the possible cold weather, I have not heard too many that have attended Argos games in both venues say the Dome was a better experience and more enjoyable.

Why is the attendance down by about 20-30% since moving from the Dome?
