To be fair, I really think the league has been pushing for ticket price parity among all its member teams. Toronto had a cheaper end ticket in the endzone or corner 200 level for a long time, but I notice these ticket prices have gone up ridiculously in the last 3-4 years. They were the cheapest tix in the league for a while along with the old GA End zone seats and Sec 30 (non-alcohol) in Ivor Wynne Stadium. Hamilton has a new stadium, and the cheapest seat is now $45, while $35 is the cheapest at the dome. I really think the CFL is outpricing a number of their fans as indicated by their pricing for the Grey Cup ($200 for endzone portable seat), and definitely deterring the casual sports fan from checking out a game. An argument can be made that based on player salaries, the CFL is overcharging their fans.

At the same time, you can't devalue your product and sell tickets in prime sections for $5 or $10, although you do need to get multiple groups and families coming to games. I don't know if families are coming for $40 a ticket...a couple who bring 2 kids that may nag them every 10 minutes for buying overpriced food and merchandise is not that appealing at $40 a ticket, but is more tolerable at $20-$25 for an adult and $15 for kids under 14 at the lower end of the ticket pricing scale. I find it funny when people said that C&S papered the house in 2005 when the Argos averaged 30k a game. They had discount offers in the 500 level for as low as $5 for some games and this is true, however there were actually 26-32,000 a game which looks better than the under 20k that they get now. Perhaps they did a cost analysis and found that opening this section and paying for vendors to work there while charging $5-$20 a game was not worth it, but I'm not sure. The CFL better start offering student discounts to attract high school and university students to their games in the cheapseats before they become ardent followers of basketball, because that's the trend at that age group. $35 is not cheap enough for a student who are usually on a tight budget. At the same time, adult season ticket holders should not be paying more per game on average than the price of these student discount tix. The ticket price increase at the low end has been too much in the last 3 years. Charging adults 30-35 for single game tix is fine since they have not made the commitment but giving $5 dollars off per game is not much of an incentive for attracting season ticket subscribers in those same sections.

With that said, this is a good cause.
