It made no sense to let them go in a year when we are trying to win a Grey Cup.
Oh, and I didn't even mention Brady Sheldon.

Sheldon is looking pretty decent at MLB for the EE; but you wanted the Argos to keep him over Muamba? ; or as a back-up MLB (when they have Cassar) or as a ST guy?

OV has hit on a point here. Most of us believed that there was great competition for roster spots in training camp and knew that, as a result, the Argos would have to release some good players that would help other teams. We can't really complain about that now. If this season goes sideways, then we can complain about their choices but they are 1-1 right now so it's a little early for that.

Sheldon was released but two other INT LBs were kept ad backups and special teamers. Are either of them as useful as a starting-calibre MLB? I guess time will tell. Same thing happened in the secondary (Collins and Decoud), receiver (Worthy), QB (Pipkin) and OT (Ivey). Cut veterans (all but Ivey proven commodities) in favour of players who have yet to show enough to justify a roster spot. Do teams trying to win a championship do that?

Both Decoud and Collins made key plays in Edmonton’s win over Hamilton last night.

So did Sheldon (who would have been only a special teamer here, but still). And Ivey looked strong at RT.

The more I think about this, the more I disagree. The Argos were not the best team in the CFL last season, and yet they have gotten rid of five players who are now on other teams' game rosters. Has any other team, including the two-time champions, had any of their cuts make another team's roster? Maybe a handful, in total, but no other team has provided five handouts.

If the Argos had kept Pipkin instead of Simmons, would any team have signed Simmons? If they had cut one of the Joneses instead of Sheldon? If they had cut Holden instead of Decoud? If they had cut Tate instead of trading Ivey? And the most glaring of all -- if they had cut any of the three or four new receivers they kept longer than Worthy? Would Wright, or Richardson, to name two, have been snapped up by Montreal as a kick returner?

Bob O'Billovich had the saying, "better is better." He was rightfully accused of making too many roster moves but some would work and others would not. We shall see what happens with this coaching staff's decisions but, at some point, I too would like to see more roster continuity.
