Alright so like most of you I am not to thrilled with our Teams performance as of last night. However I believe that there are probably a few simple changes that we can make to improve a few areas of our game. While I love football and understand it I don't fully know all the ins and outs of every aspect of the game. However one thing I think maybe we should be doing to a different blocking scheme on punt returns.

When you look at our punt returns Chad is pretty much getting tackled within 5 to 10 yards. Maybe we should be trying to rush less to the kicker for a block and have a them fall back for blocking. Just an idea. Also I think that maybe if we were to add an extra returner this would give more opportunity to the returner to make the initial first guy miss and open things up a little more.

A I said I don't understand everything however it would not hurt to try something different like this. What do you guys think?

Fact of the matter is when Owens is given a chance to return kicks and punts we usually get some decent yards, and it was apparent yesterday as they kicked away from him most of the game but when kicked to he just makes things happen. If we can just get the yardage we were getting the past few years I think that would take a lot of pressure off the Offence. It seems like they feel they need to score on every play, and while that would be awesome I don't think they should have that kind of pressure.

I may be rambling at this point so I will stop. I look forward to your thoughts.

Well I'd have to say I fall into the same catagory of you. Unless you've player the game and I haven't it's difficult to know all the difficult ins and outs but I've noticed that Chad's return game has suffered this year. I'm sure there's many factors such as blocking scemes but also he's a full time reciever now. That has to take some of the get up out of your go. That sounds pretty much like a Calgary explaination. haha. With so many return td's this year and we still don't have one. We have plenty of new faces out there as well.
Basically we're struggling everywhere at different times.

Chad's on pace to smash Pinballs record of 2000 something all-purpose yards with 4000 something. Not sure if that says much.

I could be coy and says that nobody else is touching the ball which one could argue. I'd rather spread the ball a bit more and have a more balanced offence, than have an inconsistent offence that features a guy who tries his heart out, but may run out of gas by the end of the year.

I believe they should have 2 guys, as that's a lot of field for 1 returner to cover. Sure they may kick away from him, but at least the Argos may be able to setup a better blocking scheme with 2 guys receiving punts and kickoffs....there is also no law that says you can't pull a reverse and give it too Owens once in a while on a kickoff or punt return, or would that be too much imagination for the coaching staff to handle...Perhaps it'll be too entertaining for the fans, and that can't be a good thing ...could it...hmmm.

It was more like 3800 for pinball and I understand that. In case you don't know I am a HUGE Owens supporter. Probably one of the biggest out there, I just want this guy to return a few to the house. He deserves it!! The guy goes 110% every single play and I think he is very deserving of getting some more td's. I am sure that if you talk to Owens he would be the first to tell you its not about the stats its about Winning. I sincerely believe that if we can start having some bigger returns and even td's on those returns this will help the Offence and also the defence. Take the wind out of the sails of the opposition and show them we are BOSS. Which will in turn transfer to WINS.

With our great defence and potential on offence if we get those td returns on punts missed field goals or most importantly kick off's, teams are going to be more weary of us and will start making mistakes. We can't always be playing catch up game in and game out.

If you have seen the way Chad plays and the way he flies around the field you know that he is exciting and well excitement is contagious. The first 2 years he brought a lot of excitement back to this team and now that we have a potentially good offence and an aggressively tough defence if we can get the special teams return phase to where it was the past two years this team will be Great and a contender.

I really don't believe having him in on the offence all the time is the problem, I just think there are a few adjustments we need to make which will improve the return game tremendously.

Fact is we all get excited when returns are taken for td's and if us fans get excited you know that it will also lead to players getting excited. When our defence is EXCITED they are unstoppable.

So maybe just maybe if the return game can turn 20-30yrd returns to td's or even 50-60yrd returns it will improve every aspect of our game.

I think there was a game when Chad actually gave the reverse to Williams. I think we can do more I really do. As fans we do tend to get frustrated though.

I actually miss seeing him as more of a return specialist. He gave us so much life.

FYI he still leads the league in return average as a regular KR. Tristan Jackson is better but has 16 returns when Chad has 32. But i know what you're saying he's not hitting those 60 yard return. He doesn't need a TD, just a big return. Its all about finding that one hole.

He might need a td as our O can't get us the rest of the way. But if he did have 60 yard punt and kickoff returns all game long we should be able to win with ten or twelve fieldgoals. haha
