His added duties will be assistant to the assistant of the assistant of the head coaches assistant. That way they can pay him more.

TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to announce that Mike O'Shea has elected to return to the Double Blue, resuming his role as Special Teams Coordinator, as a member of Head Coach Scott Milanovich’s coaching staff.

“I am thrilled that Mike O'Shea has chosen to stay with the Toronto Argonauts. He is fiercely competitive and his extensive knowledge of the game will be an invaluable addition to our staff, said Milanovich.

"I am confident that we share a similar approach to preparing players in a disciplined but aggressive manner that our players will respond to.”

O'Shea became the club’s Special Teams Coordinator before the 2010 season and implemented game plans each week that put the entire league on notice. In his first year, O’Shea’s unit executed a number of fake punts and even did the previously unthinkable by successfully carrying out a fake safety!

His creativity continued into the 2011 season with a bounty of more fake punts that produced excellent field position. WR/KR Chad Owens has flourished under O’Shea, setting a number of personal, team and career records and taking home the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special Teams Player Award in 2010.

The Argos have finished among the top-two in punt return and kickoff return yards in 2010 and 2011, and the team has scored eight total touchdowns on kick returns over the last two seasons. In 2010, special teams captain Bryan Crawford led the CFL with 27 tackles.

“I would like to thank Scott and Jim (Barker) for allowing me to take some time in making my decision. I look forward to getting back to work with the most dedicated special teams players in the league. I’m excited to continue the learning process that is pro football under Scott’s leadership,” said O'Shea

A 16-year CFL veteran and team leader who won three Grey Cup championships with the Argonauts, O’Shea was known for his shutdown defence as a middle linebacker.

O’Shea was also well respected throughout the league as a huge threat on special teams. For his career, he registered the second-most defensive tackles in league history (1,151) and is second all-time in career special teams tackles as an Argo.
