I've been checking out trains, planes and automobiles to get to and from Montreal. I may end up driving. Just wondering if anyone wanted a ride. I'll have a van that seats 6 or 7. I plan on going on Friday afternoon or earlier to get two full evenings in Montreal.

I can see where this is going for anyone wanting to go on his own. Plane breaks down and lands in Ottawa. Train gets stuck at Cornwall. Bus only goes to the Laurentians. You end up riding a pig truck to Montreal.

So this sounds like a viable alternative.

I would LOVE to be going to Montreal this weekend. East Final + GSP fighting at the Bell Center. I'll be volunteering at the Grey Cup festival instead. MegaBus always has great deals on trips to Montreal. The big down side is that with stops, it's a 7.5 hour drive. I've done it a few times.......not fun but at least it's cheap.
