Chase Clement is one of the QBs that Winnipeg has signed. He had a cup of coffee with Hamilton back in '09 but IIRC didn't take to the Canadian game and quickly asked for his release. I guess that his opinion has since changed. So it will be one of Pierce, Goltz, Hall and Clement who starts at QB for the Bombers this season.

Dumb move IMO to release both back ups. Brink and Elliott weren't anything special but if Buck goes down early then I would think they would rather have someone with experience fill in (which could be Goltz) rather than a rookie.

I think they really like Goltz, and who knows, having him wait his turn as they did, just might have been the best thing you could do with a young QB.

It's an exciting time to be an opponent of the Blue Bombers.

I think Brink or Elliott could still develop into good CFL qb's. Bombers have been qb hell for the last few years. Both guys got tossed into the fire because of the fact that Buck couldn't stay healthy.

A fair point.

Then again, who knows how being "thrown into the fire" has affected their psyche?

Watching the Bombers management team in action makes you appreciate what we have in Toronto!!!

I had to laugh hilariously at your comment.

Yes. You simply have to compare the records since Barker arrived after the Argos finished the previous season with 0-8 record in their last 8 games.

if Pierce didn't have a bullseye printed on his jersey before... it's in neon now.

as for Elliot and Brink, i have to think that they could be players and still have upside... if they get to go to a team that has an O-Line, a competent OC and some able QB coaching/mentoring... i'm convinced they had none of the above with the lolBombers.

They released the wrong guys. They should have released GM Joe Mack IMO.

Pretty late in the off-season for a major QB overhaul. Don't like their chances of making it work, but it should be interesting to watch.

Gawd no! Here's hoping they keep that zero for at least a few more years...

Agreed. How the heck Mack still has a job is beyond me?

No, Winnipeg's management seems to enjoy torturing it's fans in that regard.

Now hopefully they get moved back out west when Ottawa comes back.

I doubt that will happen right away.

I doubt that will happen right away.

If you use the re-entry of Montreal (1996) and Ottawa (2002) back into the league as precedent, then it will occur right away.

that would be great as we're 6-0 against them in the GC...

but watch them get a huge bribe from the CFL to switch divisions (again)... even though everybody knows that only teams in southern Ontario get payouts from the league...

As ridiculous is it sounds, Buck Pierce will once again be the starting QB in Winnipeg in 2013: http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/04/09/bombers-quarterback-pierce-glad-for-opportunity-to-start

"Newly engaged to a Winnipeg woman" (http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/04/09/bombers-quarterback-pierce-glad-for-opportunity-to-start)

I hope she has more sense than Buck or the Bombers and convinces him to retire before he becomes a zombie.

Brink and Elliott were both over-rated stiffs who IMO got plenty of CFL opportunity to show they were mediocre at best; definitely time for the Bombers to move-on with some new guys and maybe the 2 new signings pan-out; Div. III QB Goltz hanging around and in the mix - very interesting; that clown Mack could have tried to sign Quinlan or antother NI QB - Mueller, Billy Greene, Kyke Greaves, to compete in TC or he could still draft Shutter or Gibbon coming up, but pigs will fly first.

Buckaroo banged-up will get one more shot i guess - too see if he can hold-up; I'm pulling for the guy cause IMO he is a very decent CFL QB when healthy, but good luck there Bummers. They'll go nowhwere IMO with Mack in charge. And I'd take an iffy band-aided Buck over a useless Steven Jyles type who got CFL playing time opportunity with several teams - to demonstrate how clueless some CFL experts are at evaluating QB "talent".

No kidding. Someone needs to tell Buck to look at Jim McMahon and tell him to retire.

Get ready for this, rumour has it Kevin Glenn will be moved to WPG. I wonder when Buck goes down will KG lead the team to the GC?
