View Full Version : Argo Fans Meet Up - Future Planning

There has been a lot of chatter on here lately about unifying the fan base and getting more organized so we need to start somewhere to make that happen. If you ask me, meeting up in person and exchanging ideas is a logical first step to get the ball rolling. Since the 23rd is a game day I figure more people will be around and since it's a Friday many won't have to work the next day. So I propose we do a meet up post-game somewhere. What do you think?

I'm actually coming home for summer vacation (yep, escaping from the left coast where we haven't had any rain since June), and will be at this game. I may be able to join, depending on what the family wants to do after the game.

Would pre-game work? With a 7:30 start, I will have to hustle back to Union Station to catch my GO Train at 10:45...

We could do both a pre-game and post-game meet up.

That is an excellent idea....I plan on being there early to meet the 83 team anyway.

Pre and post-game meet-up at Shoeless Joe's. that the Argos' sponsor bar, and where the Argo Lifers and Boat Logo Crew meet anyway. Given they are big driver behind the push to bring back the boat logo, its logical to me.

Ya, I'd never really do it, but SOOOO tempted. Knowing Rogers. they'll have an army of people out there polishing it every day. I wonder if the lip marks on his ass from his exec team are bronzed there too?

All kidding aside, we'll be at Shoeless Joe's by 5pm that day. You'll see us draped in boat logo gear. Can't miss us.

I will be there, but if the weather is nice and a tailgate area is set up thats where I will most likely go. Going with a bunch from work who are just going to party (6 ladies!!) I know they will want to be on a patio if it is nice out. 9 of us making the trip from Peterborough. I guess I am hoping for rain now.

WIsh I could make it, the only week I am not going to a game this year - go figure ... but great job getting this setup and going ... hopefully is the start of something going on every week moving forth!

There are always 50+ Argos fans kicking around Shoeless Joe's before each game, and 100's afterwards (that's where the players, execs, staff and Cheerleaders all go). If you're going to go to any bar before or after a game, always go to your sponsor bar - it means a lot to them. that's what they sponsor for afterall.

Since the team is putting on an official pre-game tailgate party on game day at Gate 11 starting at 5:30pm the Argo Fans pre-game meet up will be there and the post-game meet up will be at Shoeless Joe's as planed. For those who partake I believe this pre-game tailgate is "dry" usually they mention the beer tent in pre-game tailgates of past. Can anyone confirm?

Last few times they have done these they were selling $5 tallboys.

That is correct, however it was always mentioned in the email sent to season ticket holders for game day that there were $5 tall boys avaialble. This is not mentioned anywhere this time.

Just don't want anyone to be disappointed is all!

I only got to talk to a few people for a short period of time, there was a lot going on Friday. Pre-game I met with argomANIA, argofan87, bluto, gilthethrill, and Argo57 and post-game I met with AaronInToronto. Truth is I realized I only really know what I think will bring Argo fans together but I don't really know what others want. What do you guys want from Argo fans coming together? Road trips, events, etc? I know AaronInToronto's group that meet up pre-game and post-game at Shoeless Joe's have started up a supporters section in the 100 level essentially. I know most people on this board do not sit together is that something that people want to do? Move in to one place in the Rogers Centre to support the team? I realize I'm left with more questions than answers and I'm actually really curious as to what people want? From there we can figure out what we can do as a group if anything.

Great to meet you T-Bone as well as Bluto and argomANIA, for me post game meetings are difficult as I bring my kids to the games, pre-game somewhere around the stadium might work for some people, I like the idea of road trips (particularly to the Hammer) would be nice to have a more unified front at the games for sure!!!

Yes road trips would be nice to hamilton,Montreal and Ottawa! I would be very supportive to the idea of a couple of sections just for Argo die hards kinda like how the tfc has there supporters section in bmo field would be good!

Great seeing you again T-Bone. Would love to get the guys all together for some other events (road trips, flag football and beers). Might take some actual brainstorming and official sti-downs. Was really hard to chat with many fans at the pre and post game due to noise levels, etc.

Probably too late but have you guys already planned a road trip to Guelph for the October 14th game??Unfortuntly it's too late to plan any group road trips for this season. Like AaronInToronto mentioned the FOA trip option may still be available. Also from the lack of response here I take it that the majority on this board rather complain about the status quo than actual try to change it.

We should try to arrange for next season (Hamilton), always looks impressive when the visiting team has a unified fan presence.

That would be a great idea as the Coffee Grounds aka the Tim's stadium will be ready to go.

I elect T-Bone to organize it along with the FOA. ;)

First we'll have to see what the schedule looks like, then what ticket availability looks like. A coach bus holds 50 people but honestly I don't currently see enough interest around here to fill a bus.

I have no affiliation with the FOA and I don't know how open they would be to doing a joint trip. I'm not sure what their numbers are currently like for their road trip this year. For Hamilton it maybe better to just try and get a block of group tickets and sit together vs. planning a bus as well since it is so close. It might be better to plan a bus/hotel/ticket package for Ottawa or Montreal but again you need minimum one coach bus load to get any sort of real deal.

Probably better to keep it simple, get a block of seats and sit together, would be great to rally the Argofans crowd and let our presence be known!!

You really want an impressive road trip to galvanize Argo fans, howabout a flight trip to Regina to watch the Argos and the Riders next season. That would be quite the atmosphere...imagine a summer weekend game on a Saturday night which would make it possible. This year the Argos are in Regina in the middle of the year this Saturday, last year was also a late season game in Week 15 or 16 I believe...(one of their biggest wins of the year). They've played in Regina in late July or early August many times, so next year they may be due for a game in Saskatchewan that early.

PS - I'd even go with a TFC fan if it means a great fan trip to Saskatchewan..lol.

I noticed the BC Lions have three excursions for fans this year called "Operation Orange", where you can join the team on the team charter plane, overnight to Regina or Winnipeg. $1000 includes flight, hotel, ticket, pre game meal with the team and even a personalized jersey.

Wouldn't something like that be cool?

Last away game of the season coming up. Anyone got any outside viewing plans? Being sort of a basement Shoeless Joe's doesn't seem ideal for an afternoon game although we would probably get a few screens to ourselves given no competition. Or perhaps try a smaller place.

It's not something I would go on. But if someone would go it may not be a bad idea to bring this idea to the team. I think their owner would be down for this if there was interest.

Quite possible that Operation Orange was originally a fan idea.
