It seems that, at least for the 101st and 102nd, they are making the logo very standard.

What does everyone think?

That's very disappointing...I buy a t-shirt and cap every year as soon as they're available but I'm not sure if I'll do it next year.

I'm thinking this is all about branding. They want to build the Grey Cup brand. A standard looking logo will do it.

They can also build a brand around the festival and have a separate logo for that too. Which is what the CFL did this season.

Even thev pre game on TSN had more of an NFL feel to it. Losing the CFL identity. I prefer a different logo every year.

I don't particularly like either logo but I don't think they are standardized at all. The backgrounds are different and the Cup itself is quite different as well -- the shape of the actual Cup (of course) but with different shading and detail. The shield has been standardized but that's fine with me. At least these two are not garish and cartoonish as many in the past have been.

I think its rather interesting with the background being a reflection of the location. It would be very cool on some type of coin.... or maybe its on the tickets ....
Maybe if the Tshirt or cap had some colour to bring this background to more prominence it would be better. You could tell where the Grey cup was held that particular year.

They are pretty well standardized which is what I was getting at. And with your comment about shading and detail, the 101st was just a high def version of it. I grabbed that wrong one

I think they used a coin with the logo on it for the coin toss

So I guess there are multiple versions, which is a bit strange in itself. These two for sure are pretty standardized. This is also being discussed on Chris Creamer's sports logo twitter feed.

I was just on Chris Creamer's logo page (www.sportslogos.net (http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/list_by_team/1117/Grey_Cup/)) and saw the logo for Grey Cup 103 which is very similar to Grey Cups 101 & 102.
