Byron Parker, Willie Pile and Bryan Crawford are two names that come to mind. All three of them retired or left the Argos before the championship season. Parker and Crawford were also two players who came to Toronto after the 2004 victory. Any other names?

Jim Corrigall is an obvious one for me. He played with the Argos from 1970 to 1981. He was part of the Argo team that lost the '71 Grey Cup in heartbreaking fashion and then never came close for the rest of his career. The year after he retired, the Argos finally made it back to the big game and then won it the following year.

Yeah Ravi - agreed - and there are a bunch of other very good and long serving Argo players from that era and before who never got to the GC; Dick Shatto, Marv Luster for example as all-time great Argos who never won a GC.

I echo the Jim Corrigal thoughts, but also always felt for Peter Mueller. He was one of my favourites as a kid growing up along with Terry Metcalf.

Going back a ways, two of the four Argos who've had their number retired failed to get a ring. Dick Shatto's been mentioned and there's also Danny Nykoluk. He played an incredible seventeen years with the team, all of it smack dab in the middle of the Grey Cup drought.

According to Wikipedia, Nykoluk's final season was 1971 so if he played in that Grey Cup that was his final game. His brother, Mike, went on to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs in the early 1980s.

LOL...I'll never forget the time when Mike Nykoluk ordered Al Strachan out of the Leafs dressing room. One of the funnies audio clips I ever heard.

Theismann was an Argo for only three years so I don't really feel too badly for him not having a Grey Cup ring. It is unfortunate that Symons never won one though.

Gil Fenerty comes to mind for me, truly outstanding in his 3 years in T.O.
Came painfully close in 1987 Grey Cup.
Another favourite of mine was Granny Liggins (who won in 1971 with Calgary) but played hard for the Argonauts through the bleak mid to late 1970's.

Marv Luster has a happy ending. After a fine 14 year career, he finished where he started in Montreal and hoisted the Grey Cup in his last season in 1974.
