Fast approaching in less than 2 weeks ... and still no list of players who will be attending from the CFL ??? - i don't get this - after they had seemed to have been making strides over the past few years in getting more attention for this event and the draft; even if a few spots are still to be determined or the list finalized, surely the bulk of the guys going has been known for some time now (and in fact there have been several mentions of names going on the CIS official football site going back awhile). The list should have been out well before now IMO - to help generate some off-season CFL interest - and maybe it has been put-out in some media somewhere and I've missed it?
Also - anybody here able to attend? (it is in the GTA somewhere again, no?); we had that Argo fan poster who attended in the past (can't recall his name) and he put-up some interesting posts and report cards on what he observed there. Be nice to hear some independent, individual fan reports rather than just going by what the usual CFL reporters (a lot of them - like Naylor IMO - are clueless about football and just spit out cliched drivel or what they are told by team/league shills) have to say or what the CFL site (which has been good with this the past couple of years) lets us see/hear.
I was able to attend some of one of the E-Camps held in Ottawa a number of years back (05 I'm quite certain) - no official invites for fans or much PR about it then - I found it where it was being held and just wandered in and hung-out off to the side for a bit (it was in a dome sports complex in the East end); found it very interesting but wasn't able to stay for the whole thing that day, plus my vantage point wasn't that great for some of the drills. Like to hear some fan reports for this year.

About three weeks away - - March 4-6. Last year they did the sprints and drills at Varsity. I'm guessing it's the same again this year?

Sunday, March 4th is when fans can come down to the U of T bubble and watch the players. Probably starts at 9:00 am

Hey eiben35 are you a Cats fan now? Sucks when favorites switch teams or get dumped.

Sticking with the Argos. Can't cheer for the Ticats but pissed at Barker for not trying to get him back. The Esks almost traded Dario Romero for Eiben last off-season. If the Argos aren't at least 10-8 this season Barker and his pal Hagen should be canned.

Wonder if any of them will get drafted? - can't see a CFL team now that interested? - maybe Obie and the Ticats would take local guy Quinlan - who do they have as 3rd or 4th stringers now?
OV Argo;
Are you comfortable going into camp with what the Argos currently have at C? If not, are there any draft prospects at C that the Argos could theoretically look at?

Gagne-Marcoux, St-Pierre, even Parenteau = all capable at C IMO; not sure about any real good C prospects for this draft; Honeywood is an AUS all-star (at OT i think) but under-sized / short - might be able to convert to C for a CFL shot if he is strong and athletic?

Unlike the NFL where the majority of 1st and 2nd round picks step right in and start from day one. the CFL hardly has any rookie starters. So if next year is going to be a Grey Cup season for Toronto, they can't count on any help from the draft for the offence or defence.
But rookies can make a noticable contribution on ST, and that's what Toronto needs to keep in mind when drafting this year. Need to bring in one or two that can step into a spot on ST. Not sure if they have a chance at Plesius from Laval, but if he happens to fall to #9 that would be a good idea. Probably the most athletic LB this year and he's also been a good ST player for Laval. I just don't think he'll be there beyond the top five picks.

Plesius will get an NFL FA contract.

Plesius will get an NFL FA contract.
If that's the opinion around the CFL going into the draft, it might push Plesius down to the Argos at #9. Question is, does Toronto spend a high pick on another guy who might never show up to play in the CFL?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Heenan, Chambers and Plesius as CIS players who get an NFL FA look - been happening a bit more frequently over the past few years; and if that happens - it would certainly scare me off from drafting them if i wuz a CFL GM (see: Federkeil, Dan; Greenwood, Cory).
And, IMO - a top CFL draft pick can possibly come in and challenge for playing time right away - it's not a good bet or close to a sure thing, but it's also not out of the question; and it can depend on the team's scouts ability to judge talent, plus the attitude of those deciding who gets to play - if they can picture NIs challenging for playing time and at a wide variety of positions. The Stamps won a GC a few years back with 2 first rounder rookies starting on their O-Line; Mike O'Shea started as a rookie from game one and was impressive right away for the Ticats; Clermont (CFL ROY winner) and Fantuz played at receiver as rookies; Eric Lapointe was one of the best RBs in the CFL as a rookie on a team that won the GC. Craig Butler was IMO excellent at safety for the Riders last season. etc.
So - the Argos could possibly address position need with their #9 overall pick - draft a receiver or an OG maybe - and give the guy a real shot to challenge for playing time, and you might get immediate help in an area of need.

Apparently Ben Heenan suffered a hip injury during the combine.

Who is that one member on here who would always come on here with such a good scouting report of his observations at the combine? I hope that member does it again.

Anybody know anything about Keenan MacDougall from Sask? He put up some good numbers. Is he a good prospect for a DB or is he just a good track and field guy?
