If you haven't heard UAB has decided to shut down it's football program.

I really feel awful for the students. This isn't a big program that will have other schools looking to scoop up players from UAB. Most of them will have to go down a division to play while others will have to give up football entirely.

The ripple effect could hit other UAB sports too, should UAB be kicked out of Conference USA.

It was a really slimy move in my opinion for the AD to go to coaches and ask them what they felt they needed to compete. Coaches respond with the idea that the school is going to invest to make the program better. The school then turns around and uses those things as an excuse as to why the program is being cut.

Sad. Especially for the students.

This is the first Division 1-A/FBS school to drop football since 1995.

UAB is affiliated with the University of Alabama, and apparently the big shots there made the call that forced UAB to make this decision. Guess Alabama needs more money to pay its players.
