Some good but many more forgettable names from AF87's list.

I could have sworn former Ti-Cat qb, Tom "Elvis Presley" Porras suited up briefly for the Argos during the 1991 season....

Yes he was with the Argonauts in 1990-91.
Porras also had some serious legal issues (sexual assault) which were dismissed on a technicality.

It should be noted that the Argonauts may have very well had more than 51 quarterbacks dress for a game between 1991 and 2014, but the source (http://www.justsportsstats.com/footballindex.php?league=CFL) that I used would only count quarterbacks who threw a pass. This source while being the first compilation of individual statistics for the Canadian Football League that I've seen online is, I believe, not 100% accurate. I'd have to check the Toronto Star archives to see if Porras threw a pass in 1991. Perhaps our resident Star employee, Paul Woods, could look into that.

The Argos actually had a Canadian QB who dressed for a game or two back in 1994 by the name of Eric Ursic. He never took a snap however. Also, it was Fred McNair and not Todd McNair who played for the Argos back in '91. Finally, Porras did play in the East Final in 1990 but never took a snap in 1991. He came back late in the '91 season as insurance but never got off of the practice roster.

7 QBs in one season is crazy.

7QBs is crazy .... but I wonder if we hit a record for most receivers this year?

I remember the other six QBs that season but can't remember Jack Hawley at all. He apparently dressed for nine games that season.

This discussion drives home the fact that the Argos better have a QB succession plan in place for life after Ricky Ray.

Yes, 7 QBs in 1990 and yet it took an Tom Burgess run up the middle of the open field to set up the winning FG late in the EF that year in Winnipeg to keep the Argos out of the Grey Cup. Incredible. How Burgess was able to make that play still haunts me 25 years later.

The longest tenured starting QB on that list is Damon Allen at four years. Ray is coming up on his fourth this season and I don't think he's playing into his 40's like Allen did. A succession plan definitely needs to be in the cards for the Argos.

JB and SC are smart men they know that Ray isn't going to play forever. I believe that they 1) think that Harris or Gale can be that guy or 2) are looking for that player south of the border or 3) have their eyes on someone in the league.

For once in a very long time I have every faith in Barker and Milanovich in finding good quality young qb's. We lost Collaros who was an Argo find. I'm very happy with Harris and he could grow into a solid starter one day. However I don't see Ricky Ray packing it in anytime soon. The guy has some great years ahead.

When was the last time that a team wanted a young qb from the Argos? The Argos have been historically very poor at finding and developing their own young qb's and rb's. I've only mentioned this about 100 times in the last few years on this site.
