Al's announced today that AC will be their new "offensive coach"

They have also confirmed that Jeff Garcia is no longer with the team

Sounds like Calvillo will simply take over for Garcia though I wonder how Crompton will feel having Calvillo standing right behind him. Sure AC will be trying to help him succeed but AC casts a huge shadow. While it seemed as though the Als finally found someone who could start to make people stop talking about "who will succeed Calvillo" could this move inadvertently stunt Crompton's growth.

If Crompton struggles how will some of the vets react with AC right there in the locker room? This move could turn out to be a great one but it might not. Seems a little too soon for me though.

It's kind of an ambiguous title. "Offensive coach". Is he replacing Garcia? Coordinator?

Good luck AC....not much to work with in Crompton. Won't be the same fluke next season.....

I think that Crompton is a serviceable QB but I don't see him as the long-term solution in Montreal. If you want to win a Grey Cup, I don't think that you can do it with Jonathan Crompton as your QB.

Well AC does have a long history of helping his backups develop into viable CFL QB's. That will serve him well in this position.

I think that was the same title that Garcia had.

Serving as a mentor for your understudy is different than coaching the one who is trying to succeed you in my opinion but we'll see. While Crompton doesn't look to have the same ceiling as some other young QB's in the league right now he has been the most reliable man under centre since AC.

His combination of conscientiousness, humility, and team focus will also help him greatly. In the same way that he learned from Tracy Ham how to be a dedicated, professional player, I expect he will pass on his football acumen with even greater effectiveness.

All very true, the greatest benefit from this whole thing is Rod Black will have AC to fawn all over this season which may ease his anguish if Duron Carter catches on in the NFL.

Luke Tasker has a workout with the Packers so he too might be gone which would only further Black's anguish.

Jordan Rodgers, brother of NFL QB Aaron Rodgers could make the Lions roster next season. With the addition of new HC Jeff Tedford (Merry Christmas Lions Fans...Argos fans enjoy your lump of coal from Braley) who coached Aaron in college, this could give Rod something to gush about.....
