I'm still sort of young I guess, but I can safely say I'm beyond the age of smuggling my own hooch into sports games. I grew up in Scarborough and that's what us Scarborough kids did, so stone me if you have to. Haven't done it in years though. It's just not worth it anymore and I'm too old for that. However, the teenager in me is still really bothered by those god damn metal detectors. Any word on whether or not they will have them turned on for Double Blue games?

I would imagine they would, and I think that booze smuggling is the least of the reasons for it.

The metal detectors are a MLB mandate and are required at all MLB stadiums starting this season. Apparently the NHL and NBA are implementing the same thing next season (http://www.citynews.ca/2015/04/14/metal-detectors-coming-to-air-canada-centre/). The Rogers Centre didn't have in and out privileges at Argos games because of MLB rules according to security. Rogers Centre security appears to have one set of rules for the facility which in my opinion they have a hard time keeping straight as it is. I can only image how much worse things could be if they had two sets. I'm sure we will be subjected to the same metal detector screenings as Jays fans this season as a result. Here is an article related to this subject that I think is worth a read: Baseball's new metal detectors won't keep you safe. They'll just make you miss a few innings (http://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/04/14/baseballs-new-metal-detectors-wont-keep-you-safe-theyll-just-make-you-miss-a-few-innings/).

ok, so we have to put up with these silly detectors which sucks. But I am also hearing the skydome now has wifi for jays games on the positive side of things ...will the wifi be extended to Argos fans too or are we only being blessed with metal detectors?

I don't know but it won't surprise me if Rogers turns the wifi off for Argos games.

If free wifi sells a few extra tickets so be it.

Because there is absolutely nothing happening on the field before the game and at halftime, and at least one can use the dead time to see what's being said on Twitter about the game, and to contribute to that discussion.

Just to show how behind the times I am, I still go to games with my transistor radio (it will no doubt be the last one I am able to purchase) but I can't get any decent reception of TSN radio from the Dome for some reason... in addition I can't hear Hoagie over all the loud dance music that is playing.

I can agree with that. This upcoming season im very nervous, and as bad as 12-15K looks in the skydome, its worrisome to think that 8000-to 10K may be the actual attendance this season.

For the record, my ticket rep called me today and told me he reads this forum. He asked me to let everyone know that the same rules that apply to baseball games re:this topic, will apply to all events at the dome. So yes, there will be free wi-fi, and metal detectors among entrance into the stadium.

I too am not with the times. I don't even look at my phone during a game. I see too many people looking at their phones while a play is going on. The game is all I want to see. Cut the loud music and extra stuff and I would be happy.

That's fine but someone looking at their phone doesn't effect your viewing experience so what does it matter? I prefer to watch the game myself then sit on my phone all game but some people like tweeting during games etc. which is why the Argos have the hashtag #argoslive. Like I said before if free wifi gets a few extra people in the building then great.

I see a lot of people at baseball games with radios still, nothing wrong with that. With the free wifi you could get the TSN radio stream via the internet with a compatible device.

The cynical part of me can't help but think that Rogers will block any websites that have anything to do with Bell.

Eureka AV!! Rogers has been for years jamming the signals from TSN radio while I am at the Argo games!!

When it comes to Rogers anything is possible but I'll try it out at the next Jays game I go to.

I like to use the CFL game app on my tablet
As I watch so I think this is handy. I still find time
To cheer too!

I've encountered these metal detectors at the arena in Fort Lauderdale. To be honest, it wasn't that big of a pain in terms of waiting time. Strangely enough, however, is that Sun Life Stadium does not have metal detectors. They just wand you instead.
