The Lawrence Phillips saga sadly continues.
Great talent completely gone wrong.
Many CFL references here, victim the cousin of former Argonaut RJ Soward, author of one of the dumbest in game stunts grabbing the bag of popcorn after scoring a TD in the 2005 playoffs subsequently firing up the Montreal Alouettes who went on to the comeback win.

What a sad, sad end to such a talented player.

And IMO - the CFL has ended up employing a few too many of these thugs & morons - ex-all-American or NFL heroes that some CFL types are all ga ga over signing; fine and dandy to give a guy a 2nd chance and all - but you'd have better done your homework and make sure the guy is reformed and has some moral character and not just be impressed by their all-american press clippings. Phillips was talented but didn't last long in the CFL and was/is clearly an out of control idiot; RJ Soward was a limited talent receiver but wow - an ex-NFL 1st rounder and he got to play (and do little for the Argos) in the CFL and meanwhile some young talented Canadian receiver who would have given his all or anything to play in the pro league in his own country is either not drafted or sits on a CFL bench so a clown like Soward gets to play ??? = pathetic IMO.

Somebody make up a list of all the ex-NFL bad boys who were reformed and deserving of another chance and got it in the CFL and went on to be solid players and character guys who contributed well & long to their team & community up here ? The opposite - a long list of criminals, thugs, punks or just over-rated all-american types - who got handed CFL playing time for a season or two and did little before going back to their old ways, would be pretty easy to put together = again, pathetic.

Agree wholeheartedly OV, some are gifted athletically but are lacking morals.
I regularly check the Argonaut signings during the off season and a decent number of these players have some serious baggage.
