This will bring back memories for those of us old enough to remember while the younger folk will have a better understanding of just what the Argo Bounce meant back in the 1970s and very early 1980s (go to the 20:00 mark and watch John Wells' recap of three games): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td-d-e6aUlk

The games of interest in that highlight package are the Ticats/Argos and the Ticats/Rough Riders. If Toronto had won or Ottawa had lost, the Argos would have made the playoffs that year. The Argo Bounce definitely worked against them in these two games. Also, it is mentioned that the Argos had a TD called back in their game. In fact, the league admitted a couple of days after that game that the wrong call was made and the TD should have counted. IIRC, it was a TD off of a fake field goal and the officials ruled incorrectly that the Argos were lined up illegally. Speaking of bad calls, the one in the Ottawa game is absolutely atrocious. I know that we love to complain about the officials today but officiating in the CFL now is so much better than it was back then.

I preferred all the uniforms from this era Paul, cool to see players like John Helton and Ecomet Burley playing as well.
Check out the rock hard crappy AstroTurf at the Ex in the Argo clip, amazing those players lasted a season.

Love those old uniforms as well. What about the Argo Bounce Mascot! I like him better than Jason. I think the Argo Bounce Mascot should make a come back as well as the Argo golf cart helmet that would drive around Exhibition Stadium after a touchdown! As mentioned by Argo57, that turf was basically green painted concrete! Cannot believe they played on it.

When I played Junior ball in '88 and '89, we played the Hamilton Hurricanes at IWS. It was like playing on a painted parking lot. By far the hardest surface I have ever played on. We also played on turn in Napean against the Ottawa Sooners, but that was nice and springy. Much better surface.

No, but that's more like me today in my touch league.

Interesting AV - I played (only touch football mind you) on that field in Nepean (if you are referring to the Sportsplex on Woodroffe) - found it a pretty fast track, but only have more recent artificial turfs i have run on to compare to; it is still there and i think may still be used for Junior ball, but not sure as I have not, sadly, checked out any of those games in a few years (might have saw you play back in the day).

Yup, the Sportplex was the place. Darren Joseph was on the Sooners at the time.
