I know they have done these meetings before in Las Vegas but after having another downhill year in the cfl I don't think it is at all apporipate for the cfl to do this. I would think a guy like Jeffery orridge who managed to do very little during the season and made him and the league look like fools during grey cup week that he would have been able to make this meetings take place in Canada. There will be no media attention going to have there meetings taking place in Vegas. Why not have this done in Toronto,Hamilton or any other city in Canada and have people talking cfl during the off season or why not have it in Quebec or Halifax to drum up interest in the cfl in these possible cfl expansion cities. For a league that tries to pride itself as being Canadian it sure doesn't look good when you are going to Vegas to do this.

It is safe to say that we will hear as much about Orridge in the coming years as we have about Chris Rudge.

He does have a valid point about bringing to attention the exposure of the CFL in Canada, among the media and the population. I guess the BOG can't be doing that bad if they could afford to spend a couple of days frittering money at the Vegas casinos....I'd bet a few in their anonymity in Vegas laid down some bucks on the upcoming NFL games...hmmm.

Perhaps they're looking at getting some more exposure from the Vegas bookies...or they did they do the ultra Canadian thing and watched Celine Dion..if she's still contracted to perform consistently in Vegas like she used to be?

Plenty of resorts in Canada, where they could have had a private executive meeting...deerhurst, was that the Muskoka resort where the G8 leaders met....if it's casinos they wanted... Great Wolf Lodge, which is a stones throw from Falls, they could've gone to Windsor...lol, heck they shoulda just went to woodbine..lol.

Hmm. December in Hamilton, or December in Las Vegas. Such a difficult choice...

Hamilton...by far. Las Vegas isn't run by the mob anymore which means it's become legit, overpriced, family-oriented and now inundated with kids who are left to play at jungle gyms while their parents spend all their college money. Had to paraphrase that reference from the movie, "Casino."...lol

Nothing says "family-oriented" like strip clubs and being propositioned on the strip every 50 meters by prostitutes.

Not sure when the last time you went to Vegas was, but when I was there it was probably the last place I'd want to take kids.

Whether you agree or disagree with where this meeting is being held the bottom line is, it is an executives meeting not a press conference. If they wanted the media involved I'm sure they would be.

May have been true briefly in the 1990's, and while the mob hasn't come back, I think they've gone away from the kiddy approach.

sure it is a executive meeting but don't you think that the cfl missed an oppurtinity to keep its name in the media in the off season? It shouldn't matter to what they want or what that incompetent orridge wants its about getting more attention for the cfl in Canada bottom line.Look at when mlb holds there meetings media is all over the place covering every move they make. Keeping the mlb name out to the public during the off season.

This is not a big deal and is no different then a lot of Canadian companies having their conferences in many sunny US vacations such as Florida, Hawaii and Vegas.

It is a big deal when the cfl should always try to promote and get there name out in the media as much as they can. When the owners and people running the cfl complain about giving a few dollars to the players during the off season but yet splurge on things like this that are totally unnecessary. Cfl could try to get another sponsorship deal back home with using one of these hotel/conventions. But instead we have guys like Jeffery orridge running the cfl who gets his hand caught in the cookie jar once again with not giving a damn about the betterment of the cfl.

You realize this isn't the first year they've gone to Vegas, right ?
I'm not following on how this is Orridge's fault.

I do realize it if you read my first post you would be able to see that. I just putting some blame for him because of the fact he did a god awful job this year in running the cfl. With ratings, attendance etc.. All going down big time under his watch. You would think that he would take some sort of initiative and cancel these meeting in Vegas and put them in Canada somewhere so he could actually concentrate on the cfl instead of doing whatever crap he is doing in Vegas. Maybe having a meeting out west or other parts of Canada he would be able to learn a little more about the country and league that he supposed to represent.

The CFL ratings and attendance were in decline from the middle of 2013, Orridge wasn't here when it started to happened. Yeah, it went lower this past season, but the problems started before Orridge was even hired (bigger ratings drop from 2013 to 2014). How anyone can expect him or anyone else to turn it around in a season, I don't understand.

Overall avg attendance this past season was only down about 500-600 and if you take out the Fort Mac and Hamilton Argonaut "home games", attendance actually would have been up. Now, full disclosure, Hamilton played their first few games at Ron Joyce Stadium in 2014 and when they did move to THF, it wasn't completed and only seated just above 18,000 initially, so it's a big reason as to why they saw such a big jump. In 2015 attendance was up in Montreal (+755), Hamilton (+8,844), Saskatchewan (+1,446) and Calgary (+595). Attendance was down in BC (-6,721, according to Dennis Skulsky paid attendance was only down 3k-3,500), Edmonton (-1,968), Winnipeg (-1,568), Toronto (-5,359) and Ottawa (-863). It's up to each CFL team to fix their own issues. Michael Copeland, the Argonauts new President and CEO seems to understand this.

He certainly did not have a very good GC, his first one.
You know what they say about first impressions?

I bet the NFL is considering holding their off-season big-wig meetings in Oshawa for next year. :p

No he certainly did not have a good grey cup and in fact had a awful first year running this league. Always wondered where orridge was during the season when he only made a couple media appearances I guess that was answered during grey cup week when this fool had no idea about cfl or had any idea of where this league was today or had any vision to where he would want to take this league going forward. I admit the cfl was having a little bit of a downturn when he took over the cfl but what he has done in the mean time has been nothing but failure and there is no stopping this idiot in bringing the cfl down with him as he sits around having no clue to what is going on. Cfl needs to get rid of this joker ASAP if it wants to salvage some of the good work that was left by one of the hardest working individuals in Mark Cohen.

I am starting to believe like you how the league should cut it's losses and find a new commish.

Yes totally cfl needs to come out and say we made a mistake with this guy and try to find a more suitable commish. If that leaves the job vacant for a year or so where someone comes in for the interim bases so be it. This is an important job and it needs someone that has true leadership skills and has a vision for this league. No one who has followed this league can honestly come out and say that a guy like Jeffery orridge is suitable and has the answers for the leagues problems that are coming up.

The reporters who would report will report regardless. And have you paid any attention to when meetings are held in Canadian cities? The attention by the host city fans resembles the the annual National Order of Crickets Convention.
