After a breakout year in 2015 when he gained 1030 yards receiving and fulfilling the brief flashes of significant talent that he showed in Toronto, Sinkfield looks like he is heading south.

He'll be back. Eric Rodgers won't but Sinkfield will.

Don't know about that, Sinkfield is also very good kick returner. Marcus Thigpen has stayed in the NFL a few years now, and IMO Sinkfield can do a lot more than he can.

Chris Williams was electrifying for HAM but absolutely brutal with the Bears and didn't last long there so we'll see.

Guess I gotta like him now.

He might have a shot at KR. Not too crazy about Cordarelle Patterson.

Chris Williams also has a very slender build. Sinkfield is much thicker...I guess similar to Thigpen.

That moron Buddy Ryan released Gizmo Williams from the Eagles many years ago (though he did play - returning punts and some receiver - for them for half a season or so till he got the boot) = the NFL super-experts don't always know talent - Gizmo was the best punt returner in ALL of football in his day - IMO only of course.

And on Williams - interesting how he basically totally disappeared as a dangerous returner with Ottawa last season - his big year with the Ticats he was scary dangerous as a returner - punts, kick-offs, missed FGs and i believe set the all-time season combined TD returns record (also blew another easy one when he got tackled before he scored trying to hot-dog his way into the end-zone) (as good as Banks has been with them, Williams was better that year). Not sure what happened there - but maybe another example of Ravi's point about some CFL stars coming back from NFL try-outs and just not being the same ???

To your point OV the one guy that always comes to mind for me is RB Cedric Minter who left the Argonauts after the 1983 World Championship and went to the New York Jets.
When he finally did return a couple or so seasons later he had changed, physically he looked bigger and didn't seem as quick and elusive as before, you could see the NFL influence of bigger size and strength being more important than pass catching and speed(at least back in those days) to which he didn't last long in his second stint.

Minter also had a knee injury which may have also contributed to his lost speed and quickness.

A similar thing happened to Michael Jenkins.

In 2000, Jenkins joined the Toronto Argonauts (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Argonauts) as a free agent. In his rookie (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rookie) year, he played all 18 games and gained 1,050 rushing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_(American_football)) yards on 183 carries with two rushing touchdowns (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchdowns) complemented with 400 yards receiving (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reception_(American_football)). Upon the season's completion, he was voted the team's rookie of the year. With his small size and his large rushing numbers, comparisons between Jenkins and his head coach (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_coach) Pinball Clemons (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinball_Clemons) (who was a star running back during his playing days) naturally emerged.

During the 2001 season, Jenkins set an Argonauts team record for most rushing yards in a season with 1484 rushing yards on 271 carries and 8 touchdowns as well as 361 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. Earlier in the season, there was great concern by the fans over whether Jenkins' running abilities would have been stifled because of the "pass-happy" philosophy of offensive co-ordinator John Jenkins (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Jenkins_(football_coach)). However, head coach Clemons put his coaching authority to use and called for a more balanced offensive attack combining the pass and running games to better utilize Michael Jenkins' game. The Football Reporters of Canada selected Jenkins as the winner of the 2001 John Candy Memorial Award, which is given to the Toronto Argonauts player of the year.

Jenkins left the Argonauts in 2002 to sign with the Houston Texans (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston_Texans), where he spent the season as a member of the team's practice squad,[6] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jenkins_(running_back)#cite_note-texan-6) and he returned to the Argonauts in 2003. Unfortunately, he was not able to regain the form that he had when he first joined the team.

After coming back from the NFL, Jenkins' weight increased. That, combined with an abductor/groin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groin) injury (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Injury) in the pre-season (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-season), and recurring ankle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankle) injuries factored into his decreased productivity. Despite those shortcomings throughout the season, Jenkins rushed for 195 yards in a game vs. the Edmonton Eskimos on August 17, 2003 and earned the CFL offensive player of the week award for the achievement.[7] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jenkins_(running_back)#cite_note-award-7) For the season, Jenkins rushed for 814 yards on 156 carries with 6 rushing touchdowns, along with 316 yards receiving. Shortly thereafter, he had surgery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surgery) on his injured ankles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankle) that hampered him during the season.

Years ago, I coined the term "NFL Syndrome", which OV recalls, to refer to the large number of CFL players who are never quite the same after returning to the league from the NFL. Paul Lacoste - remember him? - was one such example of a player afflicted with NFL Syndrome. Dan Giancola was another. We will see what happens with Duron Carter this year if he does indeed sign a big contract in Montreal.

That is an excellent point. Why did Ottawa not use Williams on kick/punt returns? He was one of the best returners I've ever seen in Hamilton. It seemed like he returned a kick or punt for a TD every week the first two months of the season.

Williams did return kicks for Ottawa last season but it would have been easy to miss as he didn't break many big ones.

Gizmo was the best ever at the return game. Every league has its own club, and if you were not drafted or don't have a connection somehow you often get dropped. The best players are not always playing. There are a lot of egos at work among the decision makers.
