In the CFL, as in many team sports, its not sufficient to have the superstars to win a championship, you need quality depth. Many Argo teams of the 1950s and 60s show how true this is. Therefore filling in weaknesses in vital. Jamie Nye has identified 10 such free agents who are flying under the radar, including Argos Cory Greenwood and Tristan Okpalaugo.

The others on the list are Craig Newman, Dylan Ainsworth, Mike Edem, Ben D'Aguilar, Weldon Brown, Don Oramasionwu, Shamawd Chambers, and Otha Foster.

Do you agree with this list? Are some of these actually prime free agent targets or are some being overrated?

Ben D'Aguilar IMO would be a good get for the Argos, as he can back up Foley. He was a beast at Mac, and would be good in a rotation. I'm guessing he's a little ahead of Cam Walker at this point in their careers.

I'm with SnowRogue on the Edem bandwagon. I'd love to have all 3 of him, Gabriel and Matt Black in the secondary, but on the chance they lose Gabriel, I think he is a comparable replacement.

Ben D'Aguilar would probably be affordable too if he hits the open market and will contribute on special teams. He seems a bit injury prone though but I don't follow the Stamps as closely.

Edem had a great rookie season with Montreal then seemed to fall out of favour. Wonder if he could play HB? Brian Bulcke could have been added to that list too. Great replacement for the soon to be Eskimo Cleon Laing.

Edem and Bulcke ? Count me in on that idea.

Ben D'Aguilar, one of the players listed as flying under the radar has signed an extension with Calgary.

The Calgary Stampeders locked up some key young Canadian talent on Thursday, announcing they’ve agreed to a contract extension with defensive lineman Ben D’Aguilar.
D’Aguilar was due to become a free agent on Feb. 9. In 2015, his third season with the Red and White, D’Aguilar appeared in nine regular-season games and recorded four tackles, one special-teams tackle and one fumble recovery. The Hamilton product saw action in both of the Stamps’ playoff contests and made a pair of special-teams tackles.
“Ben has battled through injuries during his time with the Stamps but when he’s been on the field, he’s shown the ability to be a difference-maker on special teams,” said Hufnagel. “I look forward to seeing him play a full season and for him to be a contributor both on special teams and on defence.”
In 31 career regular-season games, D’Aguilar has 25 special-teams tackles, two defensive tackles, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He was Calgary’s second-round draft selection in 2013 after a standout career at McMaster University.
