Come on Barker; sign Lirim (not going to bother with the last name again) now!

Well if the Argos do indeed go after your boy Lirim then I hope he's come out of his FG doldrums from last year.

I do too. If he can regain his form; he's a goodie. If not; then we need a FG kicker as Hajrullahu can still be very useful as a punter.

Good riddance to Medlock! Take your 90 percent FG accuracy to another division! Hamilton, leave Watters alone!

It is, but someone that automatic can be worth wins I the standings. If any kicker is worth it, he is.

I agree to an extent; very good field goal kicker, but his punting ability not so great.

$175K for a kicker? Wow. I understand Medlock is the best in the league, but that is some cash.

With Andrew Harris, and likely Keith Shologan and others, the Bombers are investing in free agents in a big way.

And I don't see Walters or O'Shea returning after 2016.

So you see this blowing up in their faces?

A lot of money tied into a few players and IMO they're still not good enough. Biggest fear with them is they barely make the playoffs and Walters, O'Shea get extensions and it all come crashing down in 2017. Walters IMO has been a terrible GM and Osh will most likely pay the price as well (not that i think Osh is a good HC either).

They are one of three teams competing for one playoff spot, barring a complete collapse of two teams in the east. So can they be better than Sask and B.C.? Maybe but I wouldn't bet a lot on it.

Hufnagel's comments are consistent with Jim Barker's feelings that you can't build a team through free agency. You can fill holes that way but you can't build your team that way as the Bombers are attempting to do.

2012 is rather long gone. Barker and Milanovich are now, finally, in an environment where they should thrive. They need to produce in 2016.

The Bombers are currently significantly more talented than was the case last season.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Edmonton will not be nearly as good in 2016.

It's easy for Hufnagel to say I sign my guys, because he has talent to sign. Winnipeg doesn't have any talent, that's why they haven't made the playoffs in years. They needed to hit FA, especially with all of the talent available. How were the Bombers supposed to get better quickly?

I think that was Hufnagel's point. The Bombers are never able to find and develop their own talent. Huff, like Barker, believes that finding and developing your own talent, then sprinkling in Fa's here and there; is the formally for success. Winnipeg has been doing the same thing for almost 2 decades.......................................... 0 Grey Cups in that time.
