Bell to acquire Astral Media

Not sure what this could mean as the only things I know that Astral owns are Family channel, TMN, Teletoon and NewsTalk 1010. Bell seems to be continuing to grow their empire and IMO pushing ahead of Rogers as the largest media corp.

Unfortunately, Rogers and Bell seem to be allowed to have a virtual monopoly over this industry.

Bell now owns CFRB, which is funny if you know what the R stands for in the call-sign.

Blame that on the CRTC, I've wanted to purchase Shaw for quite some time and my only choices continue to be either Bell or Rogers.

I think Shaw used to have a local presence. I think they actually took over the Hamilton area in 2009, but Rogers has much of Ontario sewn up. Areas such as Kingston or Belleville do have Cogeco Cable though.

The Niagara Region has Cogeco as well.
