Great article and as I've previously stated IMO Rudge is exactly the type of Exec that the Argos need right now to lead them into the future and one day back into the black (Pelley being the other guy I thought who could've done it). Hopefully both Braley and Rudge can do in Vancouver what Ackles and Braley accomplished.

(If I may, I'd like to re-post this here; it is an explanation that it was never my intention to hijack this thread. Thanx.)

I'm sorry but I've got to ask what in the **** does any of this have anything to do with my original post ?

Precisely. This is the all-time thread hijack.

Sorry guys and gals, I didn't mean to hijack this thread, but since approximately 20% of the population smokes (probably more, though the fun-police will say it is 15%), and since Mr. Rudge (and we all) want to improve attendance at the Skydome (sorry, I don't use the "R" word), I thought that if we smokers were allowed a place to step out for a puff at half-time, more people might be encouraged to visit the Dome, and hence increase attendance. I really thought this was entirely ON TOPIC. Hell, what greater topic could there be than increasing attendance at the Dome, so that this team doesn't fold? And the funny thing is, I'm just a part-time smoker -- only smoke after several drinks/beers. Personally, I don't care what people think of smoking, or us smokers -- I will always do what I want, and will always have fun. But if attendance at the Dome is an issue, I say again that it wouldn't hurt to have smokers feel welcome, by giving them/us a place (the outdoor patio/bar, which may still exist) where we can step out for a puff. And if I'm not mistaken, these are just the kind of issues which are Mr. Rudge's purvue. Hence the request.

Cheers !

I got what you were saying in the first place Midnight - and IMO it is a very good point and I don't think you meant to hijack the thread at all.

IF the moral majority facists banned cheeseburgers and pop drinks for health reasons too, then that could affect attendance at sporting events too, and should be a concern for the team/business. I don't see the big deal about granting smokers a chance to have a puff at half-time in a designated area that would not bother anybody else; but then again, Big Brother will eventually probably move to ban smoking all-together - a lot of things may become illegal in the future - and these government / know-it-all actions could have a lot of ripple affects on a lot of other things.

Okay, this thread is about getting more fans to Home games and improving the game-day experience.

(And please, don't anybody post more here about the merits/downfalls of smoking, per se. That thread has been moved to "Sociable". But it may be relevant, again, to give people an outdoor place to have a puff. To improve attendance.)

What about opening the 500 Level? This has been discussed here before, and it has been suggested that it wouldn't be worth it (financially) to open up the concession booths. Ok. Then just open the washrooms.

People can go down a level (I think) if they want concessions. No?

When I used to sit in the 500 Level, we had our share of concessions, before the game. Though a cold beer would be nice. Have 2-3 beer Dudes with trays (do they still have those?) walk around the 500 Level, a few security guards, open washrooms, and it might feel like Football again.

Just a thought. Cheers !

Thanks, OV, I just read your reply, after my posting above.

I'm not worried about Big Brother, but we still have to make our voices heard.

Cheers !

I have no doubt in my mind that once sales are up, the 500 level will be opened. Braley had done this previously in BC and C+S followed suit and tried to create a more intimate setting by compressing the fanbase into a "30,000" seat venue. I'm sure once sales are over 30,000, parts of the 500 level will open up again similar to BC's current seating structure. I also think instead of opening up the concessions again in the 500 level, maybe smaller concession kiosks would make more financial sense, than again what do I know lol.

Makes total sense, SnowRogue.

Perhaps the Argos can just open up a section or three right at the Fifty Yard Line, in the 500 Level.

Those seats were very cool. You were further away, but it was a heavenly view of the game.

It was at times, a magical perspective.

Though the magical perspective began before we entered the Stadium.

Mr. Rudge,

In my opinion, Sir, anything you can do to make the Game and Day more fun, will make them more fun.

Cheers !
