Does sound promising for the new threads. Looking forward to it.

It is more than likely the new jersey unveil. Paul Woods mentioned in a thread the other day that the Ti-Cats would be unveiling their new jerseys on May 1, so I assume this means that all eight teams will break-out the new jerseys that day as well. I am looking forward to seeing what they have come up with.

#ArgosMayDay?

I look forward to any uniform tweaks, as long as they don't introduce any orange or red.

(Ok, that was a socialist/commuist joke.)

I will reserve judgement, till after the debut.

Cheers !

I believe Hamilton also has an event planned as well unless its a shared practice facility in Oakville lol

Imagine if that was true Argos in the morn, Ham in the afternoon. That might be more "bush league" than the portables.

Maybe it'll be presser about new jersey's while at the projected new practice facility. That would just be too much excitement.

Would it be "bush", like the NFL's New York Jets and New York Giants? Teams who share a stadium in New Jersey state, completely outside of NY state, which their names imply they represent?

Could you imagine if the Ontario Argonauts and Ontario Tiger-Cats shared a stadium in Buffalo? It bugs me how people put down the CFL so freely, but forget or don't mention other leagues problems. The last place Canadians and Leafs with the same owner is another good one.

The CFL and NFL are the only two major professional leagues in North America that aren't operating franchises currently. MLB has been operating the Dodgers after they went bankrupt, the NHL has been operating the Coyotes forever, and the NBA has been operating their New Orleans franchise. The CFL has received a lot of flak over the years when they have been forced to do the same but there seems to be much less criticism from the Canadian media of some of these other leagues having to do likewise.

I really doubt he's seen them lol. Just hyping it up to convince fans to attend the event. All he talks is about the new fabric which isn't saying much about the design. The jersey Owen's had was clearly last years.

the guys that are here have seen them...I spoke to one a few days ago. he wouldn't reveal any details though. Owens has been in Hawaii the whole time so I'm not sure if he would have seen it.

Nob
04-20-2012, 03:42 PM
Sadly I'm preparing myself to be underwhelmed. All the talk is about the new technology of the jersey (read: fabric), and not about a new design.

I guess if I prepare for little to nothing then I can only go up!

From reading other forums, it appears that at least some of the other teams, maybe all of them, are unveiling their new unis on May 2 or later. So it seems the league has granted the Argos first crack at making a splashy announcement. Cool.

Contrast this to the last redesign in 2005, when players from all eight teams were on hand for a centralized announcement in Toronto, and to the recent NFL unveil, which was similar to the CFL's last one but bigger and splashier, with live bloggers from fan sites, etc.

Argos have put three snaps on FB. Small excerpts of the jerseys: two white and one Oxford (dark) Blue. The white jersey has no other colours showing except the nameplate, which is dark blue. I would bet than means dark blue numbers as well -- hopefully there is lots of Cambridge (light) blue incorporated into the road jersey/uniform.

The dark blue jersey seems to have more light blue than we've had with the most recent jerseys (yay!) although the image is too small to really be sure.

You are correct T-Bone, Chris Rudge stated this on both Sportsnet Radio and TSN 1050.
I really excited to see all the new jerseys this year, and really hoping the Argos go back to their "roots" in terms of colour schemes.
Would be hilarious (as a joke) if TEAL came back.

I am disappointed the current logo is staying. I was hoping the Argos would follow Winnipegs lead in regards to the new helmet. As for the teal...I could see that happening.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance of that happening. One thing the current admin has made clear is that it understands and values the DOUBLE BLUE tradition of the team. That decade (shudder) of "slate green" is receding farther and farther into the past, fortunately.

I agree with you Paul, I was just being sarcastic. I guess I am just a bit disappointed the Argos didn't go the route Winnipeg did with their helmet logo. I feel the A can be improved upon.

So basically all that is changing from what I understand is the fabric. Big friggin deal. It's not like all the fans are wearing authentic jersey's. I don't trust Reebok if the actual jersey has been tweaked other than the material. I would love to see the football boat logo back but the one we have now isn't that bad. Too bad that some who don't know football think it's some sort of adidas logo. Just like my wife gets asked if she likes or drives a Mustang with her Stamps tee that just has the horse on the front.

I have a feeling what we are going to see is something similar to these but with the current logo and new material (the material though is an authentic only thing):
http://cfl.uploads.mrx.ca/tor/images/inside/2009/08/70442334221.jpghttp://cfl.uploads.mrx.ca/tor/images/inside/2010/10/Chad%20Owens%20Spotlight4422.jpg

The invite says "We're earning our stripes" and the strip on the white jersey above is on the invite:
http://www.argofans.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=88&d=1334241621

If you look at the photos Mulder posted above it looks like the lettering and number on the white jersey will be the Oxford blue instead of Cambridge blue though. The naming and numbering is also single layer again unlike the triple layer numbering we have now.

Too bad that some who don't know football think it's some sort of adidas logo.
I believe you are refering to this:
http://www.logovaults.com/stock_thumbs/thumb-reebok-icon-logo-MzA0MQ==.jpg
If you look at the photo it appears to have been replaced with just "Reebok" It appears Reebok is phasing out that logo as they have taken it off of most of the hockey jerseys as well.

Judging by the practice jerseys the team wore at the mini-camp today, it would appear that the rounded numbers of the past seven years are being replaced by more traditional block numbers. It's also now evident from various teasers that at least two teams (Argos and Tiger-Cats) will have their logo on the back of the jersey, above the nameplate, preasumably instead of its more traditional spot on the sleeves. So hopefully this means some nice double blue striping on the sleeves.
