Dunk is reporting that at least three guys will be available in the Supplemental draft this year (http://3downnation.com/2016/05/17/16254/). None of these guys is particularly well regarded, but who knows.

Jacob Tzzard was still battling for a starting position in his senior year according to his coach at the start of 2015.

Riders drafted WR/TE Kevin Francis. Gave up third round pick in 2017.

Looks like we sat this one out or bid responsibly for Francis. I would have liked to get him - if only because our drafting of Jones suggests we might have a long-term need for a NAT SB/TE - but a fifth or sixth round pick seems more appropriate for a project player.

I agree. I also recall reading that another team put in a 3rd round bid for Francis, but the Riders won out due to waiver priority. Francis didn't play much in college, but he's a physical specimen.

I suspect that the Riders are going to regret giving up the #19 pick next year.

Regret drafting the next Ray Elgaard or Marc Boerigter? Never. Or never, that is, until Chris Jones says it was a mistake.

The Bummers took Waggonner in last year's supplemental and it cost them a 1st rounder; but at least Waggonner was a very accomplished college ball player - surprising he got little shot to play on their D last year - we shall see this season.

I get the feeling next year's draft's #19 pick might mean a crack at some good players; but no way I'd question a genius like ego-Jones.
