Has anyone seen the film yet? I saw it on Friday and I rather enjoyed it. I liked how they shifted the focus back to the Big 3 of Kirk, Spock and McCoy like it used to be. I liked the way that Urban and Quinto worked together in this one. It was nice to see all of the crew have something to do, but it was especially sad to see Anton Yelchin as Chekov because they seemed to give Chekov a more prominent role in this one and then, unfortunately the actor passes away. The action was a bit overdone, but I liked that they did find some time to throw in the problem solving element that is a part of Trek. Idris Elba was wasted as the villain. I don't feel they explored that story quite enough. All in all though, I'd recommend the film.

I really don't have much interest in seeing this. I can't really put my finger on why. I have been watching the classics in HD on Netflix lately. I have them on DVD, but I like to see the differences.

I (finally) saw this last night.
I am a life-long Star Trek fan, FYI.

I found the movie intense through the first half - almost too much action tbh.
But it settled somewhat in the second half, with better story-telling.

I found that the story took too long to develop.
Lots of action through the first 2/3 of the film, but not really heading anywhere.
Only in the last 1/3 does the real story start to emerge, and the reveal as the end approaches is intriguing, but comes too late to fully redeem the overall film imo.

I'll probably see it again though.:D
