We are excited to unveil our 2017 schedule. The feedback you shared with us last year is reflected in this schedule. It has more weekend games, more consistency, and is a competitively balanced schedule. Thanks for sharing your feedback - it was very helpful in making this year's schedule. We hope you like it.

OK, so here we have it:

June
Thursday 8 ex-vs. Mtl
Fri 16 ex-at Ham

Sun 25 vs. Ham
Fri 30 vs. BC

July
Sat 8 at Ott
Thu 13 at Wpg
Mon 24. vs Ott
Sat 29 at Sask

August
Thu 3 vs Cal
Fri 11 at Mtl
Sat 19 vs. Mtl
Sat 26 at Cal

September
Mon 4 at Ham
Bye
Sat 16 vs. Edm
Sat 23 vs. Mtl
Sat 30 at Ham

October
Sat 7 vs. Sask
Sat 14 at Edm
Sat 21 vs. Wpg
Bye

November
Sat 4 at BC

So we get five Saturdays, two Thursdays and one Friday, Sunday and Monday. The only really loopy date is Monday, July 24. Our periods of rest are pretty bad in the early going -- three sets of two games in six days -- but fine in the fall. Our byes come late in the schedule. Only one home date during the Ex which IMO is good. Don't like having to play both Ham road games after August, but we get Mtl at home twice and are finished with Ott by mid-July. End the season with four games outside the division.

I like the 4 p.m. start time for all but one of the weekend games (Sept 23 vs. Mtl is at 7). Allows for lots of tailgating, somewhat reduced sun and heat, and ends at a decent hour.

Also, great to see no extended road trips. Two in a row max, and both have a short eastern trip for one game. One long stretch (Aug. 4 to Sept. 15) with just one home game, but I'm OK with that as I'd rather not play at home during the Ex. It's looking like our best schedule in at least half a dozen years.

Hey Jamie -- thanks for posting here. As I've noted elsewhere, it's the best schedule we've had in years.

One small complaint, though -- the PDF fans can download from the Argo home page has erroneous start times for the games in Western Canada. As one example, the B.C. game on Nov. 4 is listed at 10 p.m. ET on the CFL schedule, but at 7 p.m. on the PDF (which says all games are shown in Eastern time). It appears the PDF actually shows game time in the local time zone.

We're big fans of the 4 PM starts for weekends and holidays! Leaves time to Tailgate and still have the game during the day.

Great schedule. I didn't bother with the tailgating last year because no one going with me could get there in time to make it worth while on a weeknight.

Was complaining about them not playing in Saskatchewan until October, but then realized that is a home game. They play in Saskatchewan in July. I am hoping to get there to see the new stadium. Maybe even to Winnipeg as well.

I am betting the 1996-97 teams will be honoured at either the July 24 game (a tough-sell Monday) or the Aug. 7 game against Calgary. Pretty well has to be in the summer to get Flutie up for it.

Yeah that Monday game is the one that doesn't make sense to me. It's not even a holiday Monday. I understand the Thursday and Friday games for TSN, but Monday?

It's the only quirky date on the Argos schedule, but the beauty of it is that it's the only quirky date on the Argos schedule.

Glad fans in Toronto are happy with the schedule but I am surprised the first half is not much better.

The league and the club should be doing more to be successful in Toronto. Everything possible should have been done to ensure most games were played on Saturday with a few Fridays mixed in if necessary. Whether it was possible or not, I don't know.

It is common complaint that people don't know when games are and for the first half games are all over the place. I'm not sure what they are thinking starting on a Sunday and having to play another Monday game. And then throw in a Friday game after the Sunday game? It would have been nice to build momentum through the early season but this schedule makes that difficult.

Yeah for most people that's probably true. For us weekends After labour day usually conflict with the kids hockey so the last 4 home games will probably be problematic for us.
:-(

Also only 1 home game in all of July seems weird. (And as previously mentioned that 1 game is on a non holiday Monday)

I like the schedule, but yes that Monday game is baffling. I really wonder sometimes, like do they really think they will get any walk-up crowd to that game?

With Ottawa being the only team that plays 2 games in a week (Argos have had this each of the last 2 years), there really was no other option. Argos will be 11 days between games for this one, Ottawa 5.

Plus, if that is considered a week the Argos had to have a home game, they had no choice regardless, as TFC plays at home the Saturday night that weekend.

No conflict with the Honda Indy either. (it's July 14-16). That's great, getting to the game last year while the race setup was in place was like breaking in to a prison.

The team that has to play twice in a week and their two opponents that week will always get the short end of the schedule. Hopefully we get a break from that the next few years, but I imagine East teams will get put in those positions most years because they have shorter travel distances.

Oh to have a tenth team.

By walk-up, do you mean single game seat sales? Historically, walking up to the box office game day sales, have been minimal (almost non-existent last season) for years. People hardly do it anymore, for all sports.

Nothing wrong with a team that finished last one season getting a bit better schedule than the champs. Furthermore, the Argos haven't had a good schedule in years until now.

The whining in so-called "RNation" over their schedule is hilarious. Three games in 11 days -- the horror.

I was annoyed when they were complaining about their schedule without invoking the Argos into it--how do you think I feel now?

You know for a team that the league is supposedly "favoring" the Argos sure haven't taken advantage of said favoritism since 2012.

Just for the hell of it I went back to look at the last five Argo schedules.

2012: Twice they played two games just five days apart (Sept. 3-8 and Oct 14-19) and once they played just four days apart (July 14-18)
2013: Three times played five days apart (Aug. 18-23, Sept. 3-8, Oct. 14-19)
2014: Three games in 12 days (Aug. 11-17-23)
2015: Twice played three games in 11 days (Aug. 3-8-14, Oct. 6-12-17), also played Sept. 7-11 and Aug. 23-28
2016: Once played three games in 11 days (Oct. 10-15-21) and once played three games in 12 days (Sept. 5-11-17)

The Redblacks are now furious because they have to do once what the Argos have had to do three times in the past two seasons, not to mention all the other situations with short rest. Ridiculous.

eek!! looking back at 2015, that had to be the worst schedule in league history, and not even taking into account that 13 of 18 games were on the road.

I was speaking to my client who works for MLSE and he mentioned there's a possibility of the pre season game on June 8 being moved to an 11am start and make it a school day event.

If it happens, STHs will be contacted shortly. Assuming they'll offer either a refund of a credit for that day for those who don't attend.

If it happens, I think it's a great idea and glad it's being done again. Since it's on a Thursday, I'm not as inclined to go as I've attended one pre-season game ever (last year) ever for all sports.

Interesting idea. We wouldn't be able to go but maybe our kids school would be able to.

Sounds great ! I am retired, so a day game would be fun during the week. I never miss a game, pre-season or not. It's a great way to see the new guys and see who sticks out. Besides, after almost 7 months, it is great to watch football again !!!

I think a school day event would be fantastic. Last year I used the freebies to bring 12 (!) kids to the game from the neighbourhood, and planned to do the same thing this year. If they make a school thing, even if my kids' school was not going, I would take them out to get them to the game.

But gee - I hope the TFC schedule takes our home games into consideration.
I'd hate to have them inconvenienced by a poor quality pitch...

I remember that game. The first half was ear splitting with all those high pitched voices cheering. lol Then a lot them had to leave early in the second half to catch their buses back at the schools I guess. I would think the 11:00 am start would allow the kids to stay for the complete game.
Shouldn't affect the players starting at that time as they would be used to practicing in the mornings during training camp anyway.

I think you might be mixing up the UoT night when they brought in university students. They left at halftime.

Preseason attendance was 26,000 at SkyDome. And we stayed the duration. I believe it was held on a weekend??

If you are talking about the 2012 home preseason game, it was played on a Tuesday afternoon. Close to 35k were in attendance IIRC.
