Argo's Laughable Commercial

For those who watched the cfl draft a number of commercials were played, most were awesome, I saw a rider commercial, a stampeders a bombers and a ticats
mostly they were awesome, I was expecting a great argos commercial...
then it came on
"Why aren't you at argos game?"
ugh it was pathetic it felt like a harlem globetrotters commercial.
with that kind of advertising its no wonder TO treats the argos as second class...

I have to agree I found the commercial surprising, but I'm sure the Argos ad agency knows the Toronto market and how to appeal to a targeted segment of fans with this "please give us another try" approach. The Argos ads were in stark contrast to the upbeat Bomber commercial which projected power and success (which has little base in reality).

Here are a couple ideas on how to bolster the Argos image:

Incorporate this term into the Argo and league promotions to emphasize the professional nature of the CFL

Inform and remind the many newcomers to Toronto who the Argos are: Toronto Football = Argos

Actually I didn't mind the ad. I took it as if you weren't going your missing out. Hell they have to try something.

I think the Argos are targeting fans who watch the games on tv but aren't in the seats instead of going after new recruits.

Yes, good catch! I always liked that intro which seemed to give the league a "professional" flair...rather than just using the CFL or Canadian Football League terms all the time. Every little bit helps in the raising the profile of the league. Like, The CFL presents: CANADIAN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL...or, The Argos: Toronto's Football Team - Let's Pull Together!
