Has he been injury prone throughout his Toronto career? Yep.
Has the team performed up to potential throughout his Toronto career? Nope.
Is that his fault? Nope.
Has he given it his all? Yep.

Congrats to Ricky and it's hard to believe it has been 5 years since the trade.

Classy Argonaut legend who just surpassed another class act in Condredge Holloway.
Congrats to Ricky Ray!!!

Trestman and Popp need to continue looking to find ways to protect Ray, he has taken some serious bone crunching hits this season, and I'd rather the Argos protect Fajardo and Prukop, instead of throwing them into the fire at this point.

Ray should've been let go after the 2012 season....

I would have let him go after 2013, but he is still here, and I think Fajardo and Prukop have potential.

Ricky did take quite a few hits Saturday after having fairly good protection against Ottawa. Somehow Trestman has to get some kind of a running game going to slow down the pass rush going forward. Otherwise we are playing with fire here. Eventually Ricky is going to be injured.

Me too - Ricky is top 10 all-time as a CFL QB, IMO.

But goes to show the Argos have never had a QB they developed and who stayed with the team a long time. Theissman, Holloway or Flutie were great QBs who played for the Argos - too bad they didn't last 10 seasons or so.

Holloway lasted six seasons with the Argos and Ricky Ray is now in his sixth. Damon Allen lasted five. The only Argos QB that I can think of who lasted longer than any of the aforementioned was Michael Bishop who was into his seventh season when he was sent packing.

I had forgotten how long Michael Bishop was here. They kept waiting for his tremendous physical potential to come out. I still didn't agree with the trade to bring in Joseph at that time. Just seemed to be bad timing. But How could we ever forget Joseph and Bishop acting like two little spoiled children pouting when the other one was playing. lol
Ended up dividing that team and cost Stubler his job.
I keep my fingers crossed every time Ricky gets hit now, but I believe history has and will show that the two QB's (Collaros and Harris) will never reach Ricky Ray's records or accomplishments. Barker made the correct decision keeping Ricky IMO. There will come a time in a few years a new QB will have to take over but until that happens he's The Guy.

Congrats to Ricky! Passed my all time favourite Argo.

As for Barker, you can praise him for keeping Ray. But JB and SM did thier best to run the team into the ground the last 3 years.
Remember Barker traded for Willy!! Constant revolving door of players. Letting Owens, one of Ray's favourite targets leave.
SM cuts 3 starting recievers at the same time!!!!

We are seeing that JB and SM were justifiably removed. And we are benefitting from a higher calibre GM, coach, and in general football staff.

All I was saying is that keeping Ricky Ray over Collaros and Harris was justified as long as he can compete at a high level. Which he is.
I don't think Barker and Milanovich set out to "run the team into the ground". Just made some bad decisions and every Coach has a shelf life. However, the Willy trade has to go down as one of the worst trades in Argo history, if not the worst. Now would Jim Barker maybe make that trade to kind of screw things up if he knew he was being fired? I don't know, but I don't think he is that type of person. It just looked that way. lol

[QUOTE]

how is this still an argument against JB and SM??

4 players get drunk after a loss on a "non-drinking train" verbally assault the coaches in their train .... nobody is above attitude like this and they all deserve to be cut. if players did that this year, they should be cut too.

Impressive that Tobin Rote still ranks high in most career passing categories considering he was only an Argo for three seasons and played in a much different era.

Also, just 14 game schedules back then.

Source please ? - you're saying all 4 of Hazelton, Gurley, Elliott and the other receiver (name escapes me now) who got cut, were all drunk on an Argo train ride home and were beaking the coaches ?

If i was an Argo player, I probably would have got hammered after that moron trade for Willy and told Scotty & Jimbo to F-off out of town.

So far letting Owens go seems to be the right decision.

Source ... lightly revealed in the off season RE: discipline issues, however I personally know a (former) Argos Lineman who said it was a complete gongshow on the train ride home that night (hence 4 players released the next day), and of course the rest of the year was a gongshow.

Many others on here know players personally, and could verify that story .. however I do give SM and JB credit though for not publically killing the careers of these guys and taking the classy way out (in an otherwise bad year).

Since then??? Elliott has played 2 games this season for Hamilton, and nobody will touch Bates or Gurley - wdont blame them, attitude with mediocre results.

Hazelton who faked an injury last year when he was healthy scratched and had terrible issues in discipline as well ... he was the only one who turned out to be a fantastic risk play for the Eskies and has turned to a stud this season. I am happy to see at least 1 of the 4 turn their craeer around, as nobody wants to see a young man make 1 mistake and never play again

CFL has had far too much of a rotating door at QB.
Aside from say Calvillo.
Ray is among the greats. By no means am I trying to diminish his accomplishment. But I think it would be better for the league to have QBs stay in one spot longer. Way too much musical chairs at the most important position.
