Esks have need at RB - with White out and now Vann hurt last game; and the Ticats seem to have a good replacement with the (one game anyways) effort Green showed vs. BC.

Always thought Gable was quite over-rated, but still a capable back in terms of some versatility - some power, decent hands and some blocking strength - and maybe the Esks will really value his blocking to help protect Reilly better - he sure gets hit a lot with an oft porous O-Line (hmmmm - Ricky Ray has the same problem).

Esks making moves to try to improve for the play-offs; Ticats season a write-off and they can dump salary (gotta have lots of $M$ room to sign superstar Johnny Football - cue the GC parade).

Can Gable help break the "John Chick Curse"? Time to pack in the season Ti Cats.

Green performed well for them a couple of games ago, and with Gable's injury history, I think this is a good move by the Ticats. Esks didn't really give up anything, but I'm still surprised that a trade was made, RB's are said to be a dime a dozen.

With injuries to RBs Kendall Lawrence, John White and now Travon Van, a six game losing streak, and BC only one game back for the last playoff space, picking up Gable makes sense for Edmonton for a playoff run, even if he is a free agent at the end of the season. Gable has never fully lived up to the promise of his rookie season, partly because of injuries and partly because the expectations for him were somewhat unrealistic. After all, he was a backup for much of his time at USC, partly because of injuries, went undrafted by the NFL, and was even released by the Nebraska Danger of the Indoor Football League, before he came to the CFL. Since Hamilton has to win three more games than Ottawa, even though it has two games in hand, I think the Ticats are being realistic in picking up what they can get from the Eskimos in two players from its negotiation list as the odds are against Hamilton making the playoffs. Of course, with Alex Green's 100+ performance against the Lions gives the Ticats that they have a good replacement.

RB's have always taken a pounding. But it seems anymore teams need to carry three good backs and rotate them about every third game. Unless you are 6'3 255 like Jerome Messam, and he even sat out a game last week.
