Yes here we are again, 2 nauseating weeks of overhype nonsensical verbiage about this TV event which for some of us is not.
I have not watched now for probably close to 20 odd years and again have no interest.
At least this year with the viewership numbers tanking, you would think the American media machine will not quote the billion(s) of people reportedly watching world wide. Boy what crap?
I have my own personal reasons for not watching, such as the CFL is the only league providing an unbelievable sporting event and no better example each and every year like our GC game.
Anyway, will likely watch a movie, maybe read a book or heck watch again the GC.
Give me your reasons and what you will do instead.
Confirm your pledge to join!

Why the small text and carriage returns?

I don't have to make a special effort, I've never watched it and never likely will and the tangential things that surround it (the commercials and half time act) have never interested me. Nope, no special effort needed on my part. I probably won't even remember it's on.

You kill me AT.....it's not the Grey Cup I admit, but I still enjoy championship football games. Oh and, might I suggest "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" for your reading enjoyment on Superbowl Sunday....

I’ll be watching with some friends and family. Always a good time, much like our Grey Cup parties (Especially last year!). If you don’t like it, don’t watch. No need to boycott online. Those who do so are no better than those that trash the CFL and miss out on great Grey Cups. I find it amusing when people claim to not watch the NFL, but later profess to be experts about a player or coach who comes to the CFL/Argos.

It's even funnier when they claim not to watch, then get caught talking about something that happened in one of the games, and then claim they only saw it because the networks force this stuff upon us.

If the inference is here, you both are wrong.
No hypocrite here.
I have said it loudly and proudly many times before, I do not watch have no interest.
Sure I do not close my eyes when watching Sports Centre for the CFL highlights and interviews and either the No Funners stuff comes on either before or after.
For further point of reference even their highlights are boring.

Honestly Tom, I am quite adept at avoiding all the hype and just watching the game. I was sincere about the book recommendation....I have read all 11 books and really enjoyed each one.

I don’t follow the NFL very closely at all anymore but will watch the Super Bowl.
Vikings-Saints game aside this years playoffs have lacked entertainment value IMO.
BTW the only World Champions I know are the 17 Time World Champion Toronto Argonauts!!

Hard to believe he hates football - since he is an Argo/CFL fan and here; but if you (not we) are led to conclude that ... whatever.

I do get that he hates over-blown, pompous NFL hype and all the NFL wannabe / fan-boy types who typically mock or put-down the CFL. So do I.

But for the record / and sorry Tom; I'll be watching the SB - never miss it; and I'm a big NFL fan. There are some big fans of the game of gridiron football in general, and who don't feel its necessary to compare the different versions and leagues and flaunt some superiority garbage.

For some one to suggest I hate football, wow!
My football is from June to November.
Yes I hate what the Americans have done to their league and frankly how some of the vast majority of Canadians have taken it hook line and sinker at the expense of our great sport, which is part of Canadiana.
Frankly, we do not have too many things to call our own anymore.
How sad.

Maybe so, but surely it could not compare to our GC game.
Nothing can!

Nothing can!How could you even know without watching both?

Having a rooting interest when the Argos are in the GC obviously distorts the comparison, but most recent Grey Cups and Super Bowls have been pretty good.

As for your complaint about too much Super Bowl hype (and there is), it's pretty easy to avoid most of it.

Sorry for the counter-programming Argotom, but CFL Fans in Toronto decided this year that if you can't beat them at least mock them a little bit.

Thus we are hosting a Superb Owl American Finals Match viewing party to which you are all invited: https://www.facebook.com/events/1550217715096399/.

Really good game. I love it when teams break out crazy trick plays, and was not disappointed today. (Never mind the ridiculous amount of offense and close score, which helped!)

It was a fantastic game that had everything - tons of offense, trick plays.
What I like the most was the lack of penalties. Please take note Randy Ambrosie, ease off on the pass interference and holding calls, scrap the challenges and "let em play"

Hell of a Super Bowl -- anyone who missed it on purpose deprived themselves of a tremendously entertaining sporting event.

Both teams ran 71 plays from scrimmage, 142 in total for 1,151 yards total. That's how football can be played when teams commit to high-tempo, aggressive offensive play. It drives me crazy when CFL games end with each team around 45-50 offensive plays, which happens more often than you'd think. 60-65 should be the goal, IMO.

I am glad some of you enjoyed the SB
I watched an awesome game too.....the Scotties Championship with Jenn Jones winning her 6th time.
The place was packed in Penticton BC.
Also at the same time men's Alberta provincial final was shown.
So there was plenty of things on TV and unlike some here will tell you or across the media the world has not stopped.
Good on the curling people to also realize.

CFL should really go to a rolling clock like the NFL. The stoppages have noticeably gotten longer the last few years.
Superbowl LII was a very entertaining game, tbh much more so than the Grey Cup last year.

Whenever I attend a Super Bowl party, honestly it is just too social. Kids running around, most adults there are watching their only football game of the year, talking over the game about whatever. Always takes away from the game.

I understand completely. Sometimes it's almost impossible to concentrate on the game without being looked at as rude. I don't mind when my team isn't in it, but last year I had to lay some ground rules for the Grey Cup ahead of time.

For sure. I always have friends over for the Grey Cup. My Argo room has a capacity of 5. Like you, I lay strict ground rules before kickoff.
