MLSE has seen the error of their ways and is full steam ahead on tailgating:

Maple Leaf Square hosting tailgate party for Leafs, Raptors and Toronto FC Wednesday

Seriously, though, now they're just rubbing our noses in it ;)

Rubbing our noses in what? How is this going to be different than the Shipyard pre game parties they intend on having for the Argos?

Bingo! Just another "let's hate Bill Manning" thread.

Whoa whoa whoa, everybody, this was meant as a tongue-in-cheek post. Just a play on our own long and colourful tailgating debate and the description of tonight's MLSE event (which I agree is not the type of tailgate we're talking about). Was not trying to get anyone riled up.

If that's what they want to call it - then maybe someone should test them & light up a BBQ there tonight?

If it helps, I got your joke right away and thought it was funny.:D

Look guys the real issue here goes beyond Bill Manning, MLSE and how many people showed up to the tailgates.

The laws in Ontario make tailgating darn near impossible. Toronto in particular just seems to outlaw anything even remotely fun.

The polls in Ontario indicate a certain candidate for Premier is in majority, or even possibly super majority territory. To be very clear, I am not telling anyone to vote for this person but the reality is someone who comes from a football family may very well be in power.

If that's the case, have at your local MPP's office and the Premier's and push for a way to make organic tailgating legal. The best time to get in touch with a new government can be the honeymoon phase shortly after the election.

If you are all truly passionate about tailgating get organized and find a way to get heard. You may not have a better opportunity ever if the election goes as the polls currently predict.

If you have time to get three sheets to the wind right from the morning, watch a football game and then complain about it online after you definitely have time to reach out to elected officials in some kind of organized manner.

Just a thought. I would do it myself but honestly I could not care less about tailgating.

Not sure what the issue is, MLSE started the Raps tailgate in 2014 IIRC, and the Leafs also did it last year when they made the playoffs - nothing new here. Not a real tailgate, and for those wondering why the Raps and Leafs get a "tailgate" while the Argos don't, I'd suggest taking a look at how packed Maple Leaf Square is during the playoffs.

Cut me some slack because I live in BC but I had no idea that Kathleen Wynne was a football player. You live and learn.

Apparently tailgating is back after several years for the TFC game this Saturday which is team sanctioned. I imagine Shipyard will be a similar deal when the Argos kick off in the summer.

I would have had a great response to this but I'm too lazy to get Photoshop.

In unrelated news, it is impossible to find a picture of Orville Redenbacher holding a football on the internet.

Does he come from a football family? I don't ever recall Doug being gung ho about anything CFL, nor have I heard anything about him playing or volunteering his time to help kids play the game. The man has Chicago envy and I'm 100% convinced he would kill the Argos if he could ever get an NFL team.

No I get that you hate Doug Ford. My point is out of all three major candidates he would be the most likely person as Prem to legalize organic tailgating some way. I don't think you're going to have a better opportunity to push for it if he wins.
