Sounds like the little shite deserved a kick in the arse. I don't see this being true. After all the bs he had to put up with I'm sure he had plenty of chances to go nuts on someone. He wouldn't grab a little shite by the neck. Personally if he did then I say big deal. He'd be behind bars if the kids neck was grabbed.

I'm not buying it either...Vandy's not like that. I've spent enough time with him to know that.

I agree as I got to know him fairly well during his first stint with the team. He was always a great down to earth guy. I remember when he misplaced the Grey Cup. I was bugging him at a bar about a week later. I told him I'd buy him a pint but he's lose it. haha. I've always been a big fan of his.

Apparently, he was let go from his position yesterday.

For those who hung around with Vanderjagt in '96 and '97 and then met up with him in '08, had he changed any after his NFL stint?

Great question. I heard he was a jerk in the NFL AKA "idiot kicker"

I started following the Argos in '97 so I didn't know him then. But in '08 he and I would chat practically everyday. Since JY was in Edm that year Vandy was my fave Argo. I still keep intouch with his mom.

It is easy for some people to continue on about other peoples failures. I will never forget Vanderjagt going 6-6 in FG's, during deplorable weather in those back to back Grey Cup victories in 96-97.

That idiot kicker thing was over blown. The guy is anything but an idiot. They blow everything out of proportion in the US because that's just how they roll. I can't speak for his return as an Argo because I lived here then. I just know when I was going to plenty of practices, games, meet the Argo nights and bars after games that he was always a great guy. He didn't have his head in the clouds. I would guess you'd have to have a sense of cockiness to be an NFL kicker.

Not that I have a problem with Vandy, (I think I was perhaps the only one that was happy when he was brought back over Pre--tough choice but Vandy is still the best FG kicker I have seen) but am I the only one that sees a problem with the people on here defending him but letting loose on Coughman? We're talking about a kid in middle school here--not even high school. There is NEVER a reason to lay a hand on a kid that young.

I don't agree if the story is true I just don't believe the story. I need to hear more.
