That's all I got to say about that.

Pluralize the thread title!

There were at least 5 of them near us. Drove many people away early including ourselves.

Spoke to with a supervisor at MLSE that oversees the usher team to log the incident since they're not permitted.

Sent a message to client services too. Not asking for anything, just so they're aware and it can filter down to security.

I'm sure the fans who were honking away on these things - ten yards away from where I was sitting - were genuinely trying to do the right thing and support the team and were just, I hope, unaware of how annoying everyone nearby thought it was.

But, geez, right in front of the Argo bench? Is that the best spot for horns intended to annoy the *other* team?

Apparently it wasn't only people at the game who found the air horns annoying.

I sit behind the bench but near the top. Horns didn’t bother me at all. Even with 12000 people, the crowd is so great around me. Loud and into the game. If the horns, bells or whatever make it so, then I’m all for it. I’m seriously amazed how loud we can be with so few people.

The airhorn wasn't nearly as annoying in stadium (at least at a distance) than it was on the TV broadcast.

I agree. The crowd noise surprised Mike Reilly deep in his zone and caused a delay of game.

We bought a pair off StubHub - thank you, season ticket holder who made those available - and were sitting in the front row for a change, just 10 seats away from the horn blowers. Down there it was pretty annoying but I imagine the sound travels forward mostly and you wouldn't hear it from behind.

TSN must have game day mics very close to that spot. Surprised they couldn't adjust on the fly, but I'm also surprised that nobody from the stadium staff ever asked the hornblowers to take a break.

Congrats to everybody else for making a pretty good roar.

The noise 12k fans can make is fantastic, but airhorns that annoy people nearby and TV viewers need to be eradicated. I hope Argo brass read this thread and take steps to curtail the use of these devices.

Looking forward to the days when 20k+ fans make deafening sound at BMO Field.

We bought a couple more to the game and bought another pair from Stubhub yesterday. Section 125 for $80USD all in. Then a couple guys showed up with the same seats in paper ticket form that bought from staplers. They were rejected at the gate because we had entered first. I wonder if this happens a lot? Ar the paper tickets cancelled when transacted over a Stubhub?

Did they show up at your seats or were they rejected at the gate? Two different scenarios. I would say that a similar situation happens at almost every sports game. Multiple copies can be made by printout, email transfer, Stubhub or other resale sites. Every copy with the same code is good until first scanned, which then makes the other copies invalid. If a second pair makes it into the stadium, that's an error, possibly scanned at the near exact time, computer scanner problem or not scanned at all. Good thing about Stubhub, you will receive your money back should you be denied entry. Surprisingly, if you can find the scalper, they will more often than not, give you another pair.

If multiple parties do make it inside the stadium, security will escort you to ticketing where they will check to see who scanned first and that party will be allowed back to the seats.

James Wilder disagrees:

For all the @TorontoArgos fans that came to the game last night. I want to give you all a special S/0 you guys had the stadium rocking for 60 min straight weather it was your vocals, Bells or horns, We EXTREMELY appreciate you all. You guys truly have a GREAT impact on our games!

Wilder is appreciating the support in any fashion, won't have a position on horns or no horn. It's great he's reached out however.

At the end of the day it's a policy of BMO Field not to allow airhorns. Same as any other stadium and arena.

I'd love to see a sponsor buy 5000 or so cowbells, add their logo on them too and make this the next shipyard givaway. It would be a nice way to encourage noise, stay within the rules and turn a potential negative into a positive.

They were rejected at the gates. They had to get more tickets to enter the stadium. I got the sense that Stubhub had priority.

One of the reasons that MLSE put a roof over the stands was not only to keep fans dry but also to keep fan noise inside the stadium instead of floating up. A small crowd can sound louder with that lid.
I found it funny that people were twittering about the game being "unwatchable" because of the horn. I can understand "unhearable", but don't they know you can turn the sound down or off on your TV and still watch the game.

Watching any game with no sound is not very enjoyable, to me at least. The crowd noise and the commentary (even Rod Black and Duane Forde) add to the enjoyment of the experience. Without sound there is no passion or excitement conveyed. I haven't checked the PVR broadcast of yesterday's game but if it's as annoying as some have described, I can see why people are complaining.

I'm for being horny!

Within reason, of course.

I thought they helped build the noise level, thereby aiding the Argos, but I'm watching on TV where I can adjust the volume.

One of the negatives (or positives) about watching in a sports bar with multiple TVs it's impossible to have the sound on. A couple of weeks ago we were at the Amsterdam on the TO waterfront, a CFL game on one screen, a soccer game on another, baseball, tennis, etc some games were live. It's distracting to watch a game in a bar with multiple sports on various TVs. The only time I have seen the sound on in a sports bar is during the World Cup when the games are early afternoon.
