Marc Trestman takes heat for missed field goal on second down .
A lot of the blame also goes to Trestman.

Best coach in the CFL, so glad that we have him!

I agree. Not just a great coach, but a great person. I make no bones about a couple of really bad calls Friday, but I wouldn’t want anyone else coaching this team.

Could you imagine what it'd be like to have every move we make under the microscope? Why did you choose to go straight into traffic when you should've exited off. Not excusing Trestman for some of the bad decisions but it happens. I think everything is open for discussion/criticism when it comes to post game analysis but harping on this might be getting old.

I quickly glanced at the title and honestly initially thought the title was "macspectrum act getting old?"

Exactly, Trestman represents our team very well.
Just a few months ago he won the Grey Cup and I can guarantee he hasn’t become stupid since that win.
Some major (unavoidable) coaching changes (Chamblin), mix in some key players leaving (Posey, Murray, Butler) add injuries to Ricky Ray and Bear Woods and here we sit.
The offence has struggled at times this season but I maintain the biggest drop off his season has been the performance of the D which I mainly hang on Archer.

We are infinitely blessed to have him in Toronto.

We had no business winning the Grey Cup last year but somehow HE pulled that rabbit out of the hat. Ask the players and they will all point back to him as the man who set the tone for that long-shot ever even happening.

Rightfully, it should have taken Popp and the Professor years to achieve that.

Ask Calgary fans how they feel.

I think sports fans are nuts sometimes.

The 'what have you done for me lately' motif is usually based on irrational emotion or exceptional shortsightedness.

A lot of people also thought Milanovich was the guy to continue leading this team as well; some would still probably love to see him back...

All coaches have a shelf life; Trestman may not have hit his yet, but outside of Montreal his average is 2 years.

making the decision to kick a fg on 2nd down in o/t
is akin to
every move we make under the microscope?

really ?

i know there are trestman fans here, but i think argos were lucky for the weather that helped equalize the teams
and calgary was arrogant gun slingers in that last drive
i am very happy argos won and i cried tears of joy as i had no expectation argos would win
.....
i was hoping that w/ an off season under the belt of of popp and trestman that the argos could build a dynasty [like edmonton did in winning 5 gc in a row]
that dynasty would help bring fans back and make argos relevant as a pro team in the city

i watched the east final at skydome when candy was owner - great attendance
i watch on youtube the 100th gc played at skydome - great attendance

no, we're back to 'building a dynasty' if argos win 5 gc in a row like edmonton, so be it

With current contract structure with yearly players movement almost impossible to build a “dynasty”.

Every GM and HC has the goal of winning a GC every year. The CFL hasn't seen a true dynasty since the Eskimos of 78-82, so clearly it's not easy to do.

Wow. I never knew the Argos played against two teams -- the Vikings AND the Bears -- in a December, 2013 game.

Learn something new every day.

'not easy' should not mean u don't try - especially if u are current gc champs and trying to get fans back and make argos important again

I’m with you, I find it disgusting that Popp and Trestman aren’t trying to win the Grey Cup this season!!!

Yeah, if they were serious about winning again they'd clearly have Messam and Bridge here.

There is a difference between questioning individual decisions versus what the title of this thread implies.

Why not Scotty M ? - he had plenty of supporters here - and he won a GC leading the Argo; hopefully Popp is on the phone with him in case the LD series doesn't go so well. And Jimbo Barker could be lured off the TSN panel to be OC ? - that would be just excellent to reunite those 2 CFL geniuses with the Argos again, no? ;o)

What difference does it make? Any coach that doesn’t start at least 10 Canadians will be labelled a GOB by you anyways.

Let’s go whole hog here – John Huard. I’m sure skippy is available and his methods couldn’t possibly be outdated yet. Who wants a popscicle?

trestman is so serious abut winning that duron carter [best deep threat argos have and maybe best deep threat in cfl] is not playing in back2back games vs 2nd place ticats, and argos are 3-6

this forum was so great but the return of "rocket" under his new name with uneducated poor grammar and typing has led me to boycott this forum for the time being. intelligent discussions IMHO have been ruined by 1 poster on a daily basis. its embarrassing we even acknowledge them
