When I read the title of this thread, I thought it referred to a new era with increased competition from the CFL from the Alliance of American Football starting in 2019 and the reincarnation of the XFL in 2020. However, I then realized that will be back to the future, considering all the previous leagues that have come and gone.

I'm hoping that in 2020 Calgary goes back to their actual colours, but I won't hold my breath on that one. Only jerseys I'd tweak or change are BC's, Calgary's, and maybe some tweaks to Montreal; everything else is fine IMO, but I'm sure teams will make minor tweaks.

Great deal. The company is eager to expand its brand from mostly hats and landing the CFL will be thought as a huge milestone. This year, it's very noticeable the lack of Adidas merchandise, which was never truly strong when they did care. New Era will be looking to make an impression and I would expect some great clothing, even for us Argos fans too.

Until Equipment Manager George Hopkins no longer works for the Stamps, black will be part of their uniforms. My understanding is that he has been the one to ensure that for the past couple of decades.

Hopkins pushed for it to happen with the Stamps for years, but also it seems to be a Calgary thing now though. Flames also went heavy black starting in the 90's. The Roughnecks who've always had black as their secondary colour feature a lot more black nowadays then when they first started out. The Stamps and Flames thing is ridiculous because their "retro" colours looked great IMO.

Smart money is on Mtl, which has changed its look and logos all season, and IMO is in desperate need of a complete makeover. Khan is based in Mtl.

Alouettes new colour is deep steel blue not black for FWIW. Essentially they went with the Houston Texans colours.

The picture of Poulin and Stanback at the 1:00 mark of the video sure looks like two different colour schemes, one with a much darker (almost black-looking) base colour.

Where in the world do they get these goofy colour names: "deep steel blue," "gun metal black," etc.?

This seems as good a thread as any to revive the uniform discussion. Montreal has released its new unis and rebranded the team as MontreALS. I don't care for the gimmicky, REDBLACKS-ish nickname, but IMO the unis look better than the abominations they've used for years. That said, tho, it is entirely regrettable that another team has gone for all-dark at home and all-white on the road. I really hope this is an impetus for Argos to go back to blue jerseys/white pants and white jerseys/blue pants on a permanent basis.

I could not agree more that it is regrettable that another team has gone all dark for home uniforms. Last season's Argos home unis were just plain dull. The contrasting colors, once a football tradition seems to be fading. Also agree the MontreALS rebranding is pretty disappointing. If whoever came up with that idea thinks it will bring fans into the reduced McGill Stadium may be in for a shock.

I honestly have no idea how you keep track of this stuff, but yes, each home game in 2017 you were always in for a treat with the uniform combinations.

I think their new Al's logo looks sharp and especially good on hats and toques. The actual uniforms are fine but nothing special. I love the Argos uniform and would love lots of combinations of it in 2019.

I think the Als should have gone to some combination of Red. Red White and blue is the popular colour in Montreal. I wonder if their fans were ever consulted.

This video outlining the Alouettes' brand renewal exercise is very impressive and IMO sets the standard that all CFL teams should meet when the new unis arrive next year. I really hope Argos brass took note.
