The Saskatchewan Roughriders are going to bid for the 2020 Grey Cup. If they do get it, the next one better be held in the East as this would be the third in the row in the West.

That became clear late Monday afternoon, when Roughriders president-CEO Craig Reynolds visited CKRM’s Sports Cage and announced that the team is preparing to submit a bid for Canadian professional football’s 108th championship game. ...
The Roughriders, after all, the the CFL’s flagship franchise — primary tenants of a gleaming new stadium, which has cup-holders. By 2020, seven years will have elapsed since the Roughriders were last Grey Cup-holders, so the Green and White will certainly be in position to say, “It’s our turn.” Although the Roughriders aren’t likely to take anything for granted as part of the bid process, approval should be the expectation as soon as the team declares an interest.
The event is a guaranteed money-maker — not only for the Roughriders, but also for the league. And the Roughriders, remember, are a money-maker for other franchises by virtue of being a gate attraction. With financial might comes considerable influence, which the Roughriders are well-positioned to wield in cases such as Grey Cup bids.
Rest assured that the homework is already done. It is doubtful that the Roughriders would publicize a target date of 2020 in advance of a formal bid without having an idea of how the proposal fits into the league’s plans. ...
This year’s game is to be held in Edmonton. Calgary is the site for 2019. A Regina-based Grey Cup in 2020 would be the third consecutive championship game to be played in a West Division centre, a situation that would represent an imbalance.

Winnipeg has ruled itself out as a bidder for the 2020 Grey Cup; however, there is some talk that Hamilton may also make a bid.

Seeing as how teams bid for the right to hold it, the league can't be held responsible for where it is played. At this point, I don't see Montreal bidding for the game for a long time, and Hamilton talks a good game, but apparently they haven't made a bid either.

The roof situation at the Big O really sucks. Montreal + Grey Cup Festival = 4 or 5 nights of awesomeness!

Tiger-Cat fans are upset about not hosting the Grey Cup since 1996 and I do not blame them, although you're right, it is up to the team to make a bid.

A Regina Grey Cup is a great excuse to head to Las Vegas.
