In 40 years of journalism, the most fun I have had was unravelling a 28-year-old mystery: who threw the frozen beer can at Rocket Ismail in the 1991 Grey Cup? Some of you may have seen my story about that in the Winnipeg Free Press back in July, but that one was behind a paywall and considerably shorter than the full-length version, which is now up on cfl.ca (and accompanied by a nifty video interview I did with Donnovan Bennett). This will be a chapter in the book I'm writing about the 1991 Argos, which will be published in 2021 to mark the 30th anniversary of the most magical, electrifying year in the history of Argonauts football. Consider it a sneak peek.

Nope. Old Vienna according to both the alleged thrower and his accomplice. The official tall boy of the 1991 Grey Cup.

I believe Rocket called it a “Labatt’s snowball”, but OV it is.

Met Adam Rita i guess 17 years ago now, while doing a school project.
Of course i had to ask about it.
He said rocket was such great athlete that he saw it out of his peripheral vision and dodged it.
Loved that team
Think the CFL needs the big bad Argos back for the league. The west, and Hamilton need a villain in the east.

CFL needs more of these type of articles/long essays. I find too many article today only focus on the current news and is just too generic. Like anyone could have written it without even watching the game.
