One of the biggest sources of frustration for CFL history nerds like me is the lack of comprehensive statistical database for the CFL. There are individual sites such as Stats Crew (https://www.statscrew.com/football/l-CFL) and Pro Football Archives (https://www.profootballarchives.com/teams.html) that are helpful, however nothing that comes close to the Sports Reference (https://www.sports-reference.com/) site which is very helpful for NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB statistics. Not only can you look up individual player pages for those leagues, but you can look up old box scores and find sortable statistics. CFL.ca does provide this information, but it only dates back to 2004. I kept hearing that the league was going to work on this, but it never seemed to come to fruition.

It does appear that the league is, at least, starting to work on this a little bit. It was pointed out to me on Twitter that the CFL transactions (https://www.cfl.ca/transactions) page now dates back to 1993 (https://www.cfl.ca/transactions/1993/). The information is still a little incomplete, but you can find out, for example, when the Argos signed Derrell Mitchell for the first time in 1997. I also noticed that they are starting to add rosters for games dating back to 1995 which you can see here (https://www.cfl.ca/games/164/toronto-argonauts-vs-edmonton-eskimos/?_ga=2.102517185.1188179634.1610821971-308769616.1609697957#matchup) in this Argo debacle (that '95 team was awful). What I'm hoping for next is the league to try and add player pages and box scores for games as far back as they can. I understand that play-by-play might not be possible for games prior to 1994 or so

Maybe something good has come out of this "pandemic". Sounds like a make work project, but that's ok. Whatever it takes to get it done.
